I love the peakfreak x2 except there's one major problem for me. After about 8 months the seams on the front above the pinky toe on both shoes started breaking. If you're fine with potentially tossing this shoe or losing any waterproofing due to the broken seam after 8-14 months then this is a good deal.

Yeah, I found out that was why it didn't work. Wide size is not part of the web specials apparently.

Exactly the same problem I had with this model. In fact, Ive had the same problem on 4 different models of Columbia "waterproof shoes and boots.

Does the women's shoe provide good grip on light snow by any chance ?

Yes and no. The tread pattern is well setup for snow, but the rubber compound is high durometer and will get even harder at freezing temps meaning it won't grip as well as a dedicated snow shoe.

The winter versions of Columbias shoes come with very soft rubber so that it is reasonable hardness at sub-freezing temperatures.

Same issue with my Columbia's lightweight "waterproof" Outdry shoes. The seams fail after less than a year and is no longer waterproof.

Every pair (6) of Outdry shoes/boots Ive bought have developed a leak in exactly the same spot. You might ask why I bought six pairs, well, 1 pair each for me and my two boys plus a replacement pair. All 6 developed leaks and did so within months. Dew-covered grass woud leave my feet wet. Worse, they stunk to high heaven, too.

I bought these right before summer and I love them. Every couple of months I do a 6-8 mile hike and these felt great. My feet hurt way less, my Achilles didn't flare as much, and I didn't get blisters. For the price point and being a casual hiker I'm really happy with these.
