ssd can have the following connections
1. SATA SSD (SATA I, II, III)
2. M.2 SATA SSD
3. mSATA SSD
4. M.2 PCI-E SSD
5. M.2 NVMe SSD

What you go with depends on your budget and motherboard
Aside from power consummption, same specs per samsung site
https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...7e2t0b-am/
https://www.samsung.com/us/busine...z-77e2t0e/
so I am guessing it is just different model number based on store so as to prevent price matching

Might be a good time to replace one of them then, but I hear where you are coming from. Got Samsung 850 pro 1tb nvme as my main drive and a adata 2tb nvme for my secondary drive. Kinda wanna add a third but at this point I want a 4tb drive.
