I've been looking for a good deal on a laptop and found one. It is ymmv but a very good discount if you can find it.

I did a search across the country and have been able to find a few in major metro areas.

I ordered mine that is being picked up by a friend.

I'm guessing they probably discounted the display models, as the stores that had them only had one each available.

I'm a beginning over the road truck driver and was looking at different areas I knew I was going to be close too.

Original msrp: $1499
Clearance price new $1100
Open box Satisfactory price - $661
Open box Fair price - $605

I didn't see any open box excellent or certified available

This checked all the boxes for me
16 Gb ram
Discreet video card
Large enough sad
4k Oled screen (this wasn't what I was actually looking for I just wanted something that has a screen comparable to my
1st gen iPad pro)

Not usually paired with a discrete gpu though. Kinda weird. Rather have a 11800h with 8c/16t instead of a quadcore with Iris Xe graphics.

And a serious YMMV. Satisfactory means the laptop could be trashed and missing parts 😂

I got a "fair" model for $605 + tax. Only came with laptop and charger. A few smudges on the lid but otherwise perfect condition. Great deal in my opinion.

I have the Zenbook Pro with the 10th gen i7-750H 6c/12t with similar MB and ports (but higher end construction). The discrete GPU is I think mostly for a better cooling solution. These ASUS laptops with i7 CPUs have problems with cooling. They built in dual fans for the GPU and CPU to divide the heat under heavy load to opposite sides. It is difficult to build a thin laptop with H series. It is powerful enough to run multiple VMs and can run as a Hackintosh.

The G7 is lower power like 10th Gen U series and should run cooler.

The 4k display is brilliant.

The keyboard really sucks. The feedback is so bad, it is easy to miss keys or do double presses. They keep putting the touchpad in the center of the laptop although the main keyboard will be offset to left because of the numberpad. So, in most typing situations, your right hand keeps touching the touchpad and the cursor keeps jumping all over.

The enter key is too small and too close to the number pad key.

I had to get a bluetooth mouse and turn off touchpad for serious work.

One USB A port and one USB C port is limiting. Huge battery which should be good for the G7 but not enough for a H.

Not sure why this got downvoted as it's an amazing price for a oled laptop. I have a M1 MacBook air and I'm getting tired of the terrible black levels so I've been looking for an oled. Luckily I found a fair for $605 near me. Once I get the email from best but I'll pick it up and report back.

It's probably getting downvoted because it's not available in most areas. It also has a few shortcomings. It came out 2 years ago, it can't charge through USB-C, and it also has a dedicated GPU, but it's basically only as strong as AMD's latest integrated video and uses more power/generates more heat to do so.

Bought mine for $620 and it came with burn in! (just my luck) gonna see if best buy will let me exchange with an excellent condition one for the same price tomorrow. other than the Burn-in issue the screen is amazing for a laptop. It actually looks as good as my LG C1 OLED TV.

I have noticed BB is dropping a few of open box each day at a certain time, indicating that they appear to have a ton of these in the return department. This is it the special BestBuy exclusive model which can only be serviced by BB and not by Asus, odd as it sounds that is what I learned from reading the reviews, and BB is basically putting these returned items back on the market. Now, it is an interesting product at the given price point. Is there a well known issue with it or something?

Ah that sucks.. Is burn in a well known issue for a 2 year old oled panels? Still considering between this and newer models like the 14" one with 120hz oled panel

This deal is setting a bad precedent. People who are seriously looking for a laptop should by now already know to search their bb for open box. We don't need a thread everytime someone finds an open box in their area. If the brand new price is on sale and a good price and then on top of that open box is great price, then sure that deserves a post but not a post primarily based on the open box pricing.

Let them be… not all open box items are as heavily discounted as this one.

I got one today in satisfactory condition for 595. No charger, a few scratches here and there. They did offer me a partial refund of $30 for the purchase of the charger. I still don't understand why it does not charge over USB-C.

Are you able to charge using one of the thunderbolt ports?

no. You have to use the asus power supply.
