Surge protectors are consumable items. Even if the receptacles still work after 15 years, the surge protection is probably gone. Each time the protection component absorbs a small spike in your power line it reduces it's capacity until it's deleted. Unfortunately they don't put remaining capacity gauges on those things
I bought a bunch of these from Costco and I've already thrown out 3; they don't last that long (maybe 2 years)? I'm fine with what I paid I guess but it was a bit weird to me as all of my other ones are getting to around 15+ years and going strong. Just a fair warning on the longevity of these.

Note that you can always return them to costco if they die but I was lazy.

Dummy proof for dummy. laugh out loud

I think there is a tank on the powerline in every neighborhood to make sure the power is well regulated
Or you can become a bigger dummy like me by getting them install one near the entry for $150 (Duke Cincinnati) Smilie

Clamping voltage AKA voltage protection rating or VPR is 600V (L-N L-G N-G) for all three units.

Lower is better. A clamping voltage of 330V is considered the best protection, though in recent years, there aren't many affordable surge protectors meeting that standard anymore. I'm okay with 500V or lower. Will pass on these.
This comment should be higher. A lot of power review and information sites say that clamping voltage 400 or less would be your best investment. Apparently anything 600 - 1200 is on par with generic store-branded surge protectors.

You should be suggesting they begin at POE

Hence the cost on these, I assume?

These aren't what you would get to protect highly sensitive devices and such, these are general surge protectors. A 3 pack @ $30 general too.

Price is $30 in store as well, looked at these yesterday and hesitated even though I could use them.

Had one from before, out of 3, one was DOA. Don't know how it could have pass QA(if they did any). Not super impress by the build.

About 9 years ago had the neutral coming into the house get messed up. Blew transformers on AC, killed expensive printer, fried the wiring in my refrigerator, TV, garage door opener, microwave and plenty of other electronic devices. Have kept surge protectors on all the expensive stuff since. Last week neutral went bad again this time only lost transformers in AC (easy enough for me to fix/replace) and a dehumidifier not on a surge protector. Every power strip/outlet protector blew though. Rarely does someone's house get hit by lightening, its the power coming into the house.

I prefer Tripp-Lite because I think they have better quality. I've started replacing 2-3 surge protectors every year to keep them in warranty. (make sure you register them or you may not get full warranty)

For electronics such as TV, consoles, and computers; I recommend replacing surge protectors every 3 years, or at least when warranty expires. For stuff like phones or lights, you can probably stretch to 5-6 years.

Any major power event in your house should prompt you to replace at least the major electronics surge protectors

Yeah, I need to read up on this. Back of my mind I was okay with swapping them out periodically. Interesting that I had so many die from this one brand though.
I'd consider it a feature and not a bug if they disable themselves once they've eaten all of the Joules they can eat. As others have said, this isn't usually something you as a consumer can be aware of. So if the behavior is to stop working once surge protection is gone, well, I'd wish ALL of my surge protectors would do this!

I once saw a ~$150 surge protector with a display showing how many Joules remained. I thought that was cool, but also not something I could afford to replace all of my surge protectors with! 😆

Crap product.

* The portion that rotates gets stuck
* The plugs (that go into the way) can get stuck
* The out plugs are finicky too, forcing a vacuum plug into it as an example

Would not buy again.

I bought these from Costco and return them the same day. The plugs are just way too close together. I will only buy wide space plugs going forward.

Is this a deal because of inflation?

Or not really a FP deal?
