To be clear, there is both a Tuff Lite and a Mini Tuff Lite knife, and this is the Mini with the 2" blade, of which about 1.5" are cutting surface. You can also get one in Japanese AUS8a stainless for not too much more, but this one is in the lesser, but still Japanese, 4034SS. I've read people compare it to 420J2, which is very budget steel several notches below Japanese AUS8a. It's got Cold Steel's Tri-Ad lock, which is a strong backlock, and it is made in Taiwan vs China if that maters to you.

I used to work produce and broke boxes down all day and was tempted to buy one of these, but when it get's dull you'd need to stop and sharpen it vs just changing out blades in a cheap box cutter. I'd rather have the AUS8a blade for that reason, but the store provided box cutters, so... But it's so darn cute!

You can sharpen AUS-8a just as quickly as you can change the blade on a box cutter. It may not get quite as sharp as doing it with a whetstone, but you should still be able to get a decent edge.

I think 4034 is a German steel.

Cold Steel bills their 4034SS is "a Japan made medium grade stainless steel...", but I have seen it commonly listed as a German steel, too. Go figure.
