I had a piece of metal bounce off my cheek and under my safety glasses while dremeling. It embedded in my eyeball, had to have a doctor remove it. I've been wearing tight goggles since, may switch to this.

No.
Good for grinding, woodwork like when using a lathe, or for chemical splash protection.

Standard Z87 test is a 68g ball dropped from 50 inches onto the lens mounted on a foam head. Pass means no pieces of the safety gear break free or fracture.

Z87+ is high impact, and requires two tests:
500g spike dropped from 50 inches, and a 1/4" steel ball bearing shot at 30 different impact points at 300 feet/s (~205mph). Again, pass requires no pieces of the safety gear break free or fracture, and no contact with the eye on the test head.

Will this protect me from Covid? Asking for a friend.
It blocks droplets but doesn't do much against aerosol.

From review photos it has enough room for wearing a mask inside.

Yeah, I wore one of these Uvex shields with a 3M 6500 reusable respirator before vaccines were available.

Switched to just a 3M 8210 after vaccination.

These are great for making soap too. Lye burns suck.

I like these a lot. I ended up using this for lawn care and pest control. Still need some eye gear but this keeps the face mostly covered. Best for standing, difficult in crawl space with this but possible. My head, size 8 fits fine

The visor will become pitted and visibility will be decreased, if grinding sparks are allowed to contact it.

Confused… their description says you still have to wear safety glasses/goggles when wearing this. What is the point?

Yes, always wear safety glasses underneath. Give your eyes extra protection. Had this on today while working under my chimney. Safety goggles and N95 masks underneath the face shield. Felt invincible.

No - they fog up when the temp difference is too great.

I have this. It's comfortable, strong and well designed. I use it for woodworking on a lathe where I wanted to make sure I had something with good impact rating for anything flying at me at high speed. I highly recommend.

Multiple layers of protection. Like seatbelt + airbag. I use it in woodworking and wear safety glasses under it, just in case. It covers more than your eyes; when I'm at the lathe, it covers pretty much everything down to my throat unless it's angled way up.
