These have been $39.97 for awhile at the stores here. They're great lights, but if you read the reviews, they die randomly, even with little use. I had one in a closet that only gets used a handful of times a year and the other day when I went to use it, just deader than a door nail. Took it down and returned it.

I've had this in my kitchen for over a year. Puts out great light. Used daily with no issues so far far.

I attached the instruction manual / installation guide to the original post. This light definitely isn't as easy as smaller lights which simply attach directly to the ceiling box with a couple of screws. However, the only "complication" is the addition of a mounting panel which must be screwed to the ceiling between the electrical box and the light fixture itself. Mounting this is no more complicated than a few additional screws, though those may involve wall anchors or some other attachment method since you're probably screwing into a drywall ceiling.

Conveniently, the fixture includes some hooks so that the light can be hung off the mounting plate while you connect the electrical wiring, making a one-person job easier to manage.

So light fixture replacement with a dash of picture hanging skills.

Good luck!

I hadn't realized that Costco will further discount prices below the marked $xx.97 price(?).

Good luck!

Can this setup be easily installed to replace the fluorescent tube light setup in the walk-in closet?

Usually .97 just means some sort of mark down, like $39.97, then $34.97, then $29.97, but .00 is usually final mark down, at least at that individual store. Some store managers do things differently, but most seem to mostly follow the same method.

These are indeed meant to work as drop in replacements where you might have 4 foot tubes installed. Be forewarned, however, that these are potentially going to output less light than your existing fixture so consider that when making such a swap.

Good luck!

I looked at this when they were 39.97. Reviews say high failure rate and not so easy installation.

I have a couple of these that I used to replace the 90s-style fluorescent tube lights. Took a little getting used to to install, but they're awesome so far.
