Not sure what you are talking about. This is a great way to provide an emergency phone to a middle schooler. Handing a smart phone with internet access to them at that age is just spoiling them rotten. For them it's either a flip phone or no phone…sorry!!

Tracfone Tips: (Helpful site: https://www.howardforums.com/foru...fone-Net10)

If new to Tracfone:

Setup a phone then turn off. (You can also do this step after activation.) You don't need to remove the pre-inserted SIM. Phone will not be activated automatically.
Go to Tracfone website and click 'Activate'.
Click 'Activate' under 'New Phone (One you've purchased through Tracfone)'.
Select 'I want a new number' and enter your ZIP code. (or Keep your number and enter port information if you want to port your current phone # to Tracfone.)
Select 'I want to use the physical SIM card' and continue.
Enter IMEI of your phone, agree to the terms and continue.
Activation Request Submitted. Click 'Continue' then the 'Create Account' tab to create a new account.
Turn on your phone. If you already setup your phone, you should receive welcome text with your phone number. (optional) You can text UNLOCK to 611611 (sometimes twice) to check unlock date.
Wait a day or two, then follow the DIY Guide [reddit.com] to activate the 2nd phone, which will have 3000 TTD and 2 years of service.
(Optional) If you want to use an unlocked phone, buy a $1 TF BYOD SIM (TF/Verizon) and follow the DIY Guide to transfer everything over. Tracfone supports eSIM for some phone models.
Do NOT swap SIMs. Tracfone phone IMEI and SIM ICCID are paired. Inserting the SIM that came with the phone in a different one may impact the service/unlock eligibility.

Join the Rewards Program within 14 days of creating an account (Recommend using the TF app to join because previous problem with joining the program on the website. If you have a flip phone, you can't use TF app, so join the Rewards Program right after you created an account on PC, or use TF app on a tablet/different phone to join.).

Download the Tracfone My Account app and log in with your email and password.
Click down arrow on top right of 'Join Rewards' green bar, then 'Learn More'. Click 'Join Now' under 'I agree with the Terms of Use' to join Rewards. (A message "Success: You have successfully joined Tracfone Rewards" appears, click OK.) Click My Rewards. An intro video "Welcome to Tracfone Rewards" will play. After the video is done playing, click 'X' to close the video and you should see a box (Referred by a Friend? Enter their unique code here) to enter a referral code (box also shows in the Rewards home page).

No box to enter a referral code? You can try to create a new account. (proceed with caution)
On a PC, go to https://www.tracfone.com/home, then My Account, Log in (Dashboard), Manage Lines, Select Line (to remove), Device, Remove from Account, Confirm. Close browser.
To create account with an existing line (after being removed from account):
Start browser and check ZIP code: Near top of the screen, there is a default ZIP. If it's not your ZIP, click on it to change to your ZIP.
Click My Account, enter only the phone # (not Email, IMEI, Serial or SIM #), then the 6-digit verification code sent to the phone. After verification, enter a new email not associated with any Tracfone accounts, then a password to create a new account. Close browser and follow the steps 1 and 2 in 'Join the Rewards Program'.

Port out: You will need information below to port out your phone # from Tracfone:
1. Phone number apparently.
2. Account number. This is either the IMEI or the last 15 digits of SIM #. You can text FOUR to 611611 and see if the 4-digit number matches the last four of IMEI or SIM. If you have changed phones, and the 4-digit number doesn't match IMEI or SIM, consider this approach [reddit.com] to find your account number.
3. ZIP Code. The ZIP code you used to setup your account or line. It could also be the ZIP where TF headquarter is located (33178). You can login to your account to check (Manage Lines, Select Line, then click Device. The Details will display Zip Code.)
4. Port-Out PIN. Text NTP to 611611 to get the PIN (it's not your account PIN.)

If you need to contact Tracfone Porting Department, the number is 1-800-327-2077.

Note: Tracfone Terms and Conditions [tracfone.com]:
Tracfone reserves the right to deactivate any phone for which there is no voice, text or data usage for a period of six (6) consecutive months for smartphones and twelve (12) consecutive months for other phones. If your Service is deactivated, your Service can be reactivated by purchasing and adding an Airtime Card. Once reactivated, your phone may be assigned a new phone number. Airtime which remained unused at the time of deactivation will still be available if Service is reactivated within sixty (60) days from the deactivation date, otherwise any unused airtime will be lost.

Thanks for all your help. Because I actually want to port a new phone and its number into Tracfone, I was just trying to figure out how to get a Tracfone service plan onto that phone. Could OP's phone's service plan, after it has been active for 60 days, be "moved" to the ported in device? Or would the ported in device have to have a paid service plan as part of getting it ported in?
Thanks again.
Yes. You can port in to Tracfone. Select keep your number and your existing # will be on Tracfone, with the service from this deal. After 60/61 days, you can request to have the flip phone unlocked and the points vest. Buy a Tracfone SIM kit, and chat with an agent to add your old phone (if compatible with TF) to your account (provide the phone IMEI and SIM #), and transfer the service from the flip phone to your old phone.

It's a mess. Going to have to call again maybe Monday. Just got off the line with one of them who said it's automatic and will happen but don't show any new pending points.

I asked twice that they should be pending now and they said they can't add them now but could after 60 days which makes no sense.

This was on a BYOD line. Hopefully this flip counts.

Looking to move an old line to it later after points vest. Hopefully they don't mess that up too but they probably will knowing my luck so far.
If you don't see the pending points now, it's very unlikely they will show up automatically in the future. Call TF and ask the CS to transfer you to the Royalty Rewards Department. The reps there have more authority to manually add points. Obtain a ticket number (10 digits I think) if possible. The pending points will show right away after the agent added them, or after the ticket has been processed.

It's a "feature phone" and not a smart phone.

The phone runs KaiOS and has its own app store (not at all related to Google's or Apple's app stores). Don't expect too much from those apps.
This phone is model 408DL and it's not KaiOS, instead it says "Operating System Androidâ„¢ 11 (AOSP)".
TF LG Classic Flip is also AOSP but has older 8.1 version.

I'll try again tomorrow unless I somehow have enough free time today. Guess I'm not surprised they have no idea what to do. It should be simple to see a new line and add the points.

Will hope this flip arrives on time to also get the points for it.

Either way I'll use the flip to transfer from another line when points are redeemed, if they follow through.

On the OS comments, pretty sure it's just kai os. You can find reviews to confirm. If the phone calls and texts that's about all it's supposed to do. The OS can run some really basic apps but nothing like a real smartphone. It's a basic flip phone. From everything I've seen it's not even a very good one, and nobody has made something as simple as the LG classic flip which is a shame since it's discontinued.

Thanks. The thing is, I don't want my phone number to get transferred to the flip-phone, especially not for 60 days. So in that case is there any way to avoid buying a service plan for a smartphone I already own? I suspect the answer is no.

Would these steps work?:
  1. Tracfone website -> Activate -> Keep Your Own Phone -> I want to keep my number: This option includes the following possible scenarios: Transferring service from a Tracfone device to another Tracfone Device -OR- Transferring your phone number from another service provider to Tracfone.
  2. Enter phone number to be transferred.
  3. Activate your SIM: Enter your SIM number (previously ordered from Tracfone for $1). We will associate it with your device.
  4. But I don't know what the next prompt will be. Does it allow you to add a service plan you already bought; e.g. eBay $9.99 for 30-day basic plan [ebay.com], -or- 90-day plan from Target [target.com]
Then after 60 days, I'd have to use online chat to "combine" the flip-phone's service plan with the "Bring Your Own Phone" phone's plan?
In short, there's no way to bring in a phone I already own, and keep its original phone number, without paying cash to give it a Tracfone service plan?

Thanks for the info. So I ordered 4 phones as I understand it I use a referral for the first line then add each of the three additional lines with chat. Then I will have 38000 points that are available in 61 days. I can get $300 off of an iphone 11 and add that phone to my account and 61 days later I should have at least 25000 points 18000+7000. At that point I can get another $300 off. Unlock the phones and end up with four flip phones, two iphone 11s. Four power banks and four car chargers and 4800 minutes, texts and mb that I can combine on one phone for a total of about $145. I guess that the main unknown is how long TracFone will continue to offer the iPhone 11 as the points won't be available till the end of October.

Yes, what you described should work. Once TF accepted your SIM (and IMEI if you used a Verizon SIM), the next step it will ask for a payment method: either a credit card or a service PIN #. The $9.99 plan from eBay (I use this on all my activations then used points to extend the service for unlock and points) or $19.99 from Target (good for unlock and points vest) should work.
Since you have an existing TF account, alternatively I would use chat to add your current phone (not on TF or Verizon network) and pair it with the SIM from the $1 kit. (TF chat agent should be able to add the device without activating it). This should get you 10,000 points for adding a line. You should monitor this on your TF app. After the agent said the device was added, you should see the pending points before chat ended (close and reopen the app may help). The device will say inactive. Click on it, and then Activate. It will ask if you want a new number or keep your number. (I only done new number this way) Select keep it and it will ask for port in information (carrier, phone #, account #, zip and PIN). It then asks for payment info. Select service PIN and enter the code you received from eBay or Target. Wait for your number to be ported to TF.
After you received the Flip 2 (if by 8/31), use chat again to add it to your main line for another 10,000 points. You can ask the agent to activate it for you or do it yourself (I prefer this way, same process). By the end of October, your Flip should be eligible for unlock, and the 20,000 points should vest (for a $300 off phone discount code maybe). You then chat with TF agent again to move the service from Flip 2 to the phone and number you want to use/keep (see post #5 on 'Combine').

You are correct! yep, sounds great, right? Things uncertain are the available of iPhone 11 (at the end of October for 1st one and December for 2nd one) and the Rewards Program itself...

Are points from purchasing service available sooner than activation points? If so would it be worthwhile to spend $20 to buy data and get the 2000 points a couple of months sooner?

There were some deals via their eBay store with preloaded SIMs over the last couple years where people had SIMs come with no plans. I wouldn't wait more than a couple months if you're counting on the plan being on the SIM.
I got burned by them with a sim with nothing on it. Had all the info for it, and they were no help at all.

No, TF links sim and plan to IMEI of phone it comes with. Read beginning of thread for more information.

Thanks OP.
Hopefully I will get the Reward Points (10,000) without any problems. Then I will be able to extend my service cheaply.
