What happened to the Gamer's Lounge? There used to be tons of discussion on all kinds of new games and consoles and deals but now this place seems dead. Did a bunch of people get banned or something?

Probably a few different reasons:
  • Not that many new/innovative good games out. There's only so much you can talk about gaming related if the industry isn't pushing the envelope.
  • The regulars are getting older and have less time to play games
  • Some may have moved on to other forums/reddit
For me personally, it's mostly the first two.

Yeah, I hear that. I posted on here a bunch back during the PS4/Xbone/Wii days (I think under a different account that I deleted) and then had kids and kind of dropped off the face of the internet​ on account of having kids and being too busy. But now my kids are old enough that they're starting to play video games so I'm slooowwwwwwllllly getting back into it.

I was also just surprised that the list of threads seems like it's maybe just 10 topics deep? There used to be pages and pages and pages of topics, different discussions for each game and that kind of thing. Did the mods limit the # of threads for the Gamer's Lounge or did they all get wiped in the copyright troll purge or do they all auto-delete after not being responded to for a couple weeks or something?

Also agreed about the current gen being boring, and getting a slow start because of supply chain woes. My family got a Pandemic Switch which is interesting because I doubt I would have bought another Nintendo console if it hadn't been for COVID and kids. I was sure I was going to get a PS5 but, eh, like you said the newest gen of games are just the same old stuff with better graphics and almost everything is being made for both the 4/5 so why upgrade when I've still got a backlog?

it's your filter settings. by default it only shows the last year i think. if you change that filter to all time, there are many more.

i typically have it set to all time and sort by last post vs thread created. there are a few decade old threads we generally hide in.

Mine was default set to the last month and it looked like the forum was limited to 10 threads! Switched it to all time and then BAM! there's everything

Is Bonk still around? I remember butting heads with him back in the day ;-P

Now that TP is closed (I assume you're reading this a few hours from when I post it), are you going to hide here? Or keep acting like you have a job and know what good pizza is?

I try to put away tech during the summer. Which is stupid, because that's when I have time to for it. But I usually use it to distract from worklife.

Oh, fresh pizza conversation now that it comes to mind, when my house guests were here, they said that all the pizza they tried in Boston was terrible. They approved of the pizza that I got them from one of my favorite local joints here.

Where did they try? Some places in Boston are proud of their "bar pizzas" which I think are trash, generally. Pizzeria Regina is good, famous North End place though they have other locations, too.
