Verizon Wireless is offering a flat $800 trade in value towards select Samsung phones including the Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, S22 ultra, S22 plus, S22, and S21 FE 5G ($700 credit as MSRP is $699.99), with select 5G unlimited plans (including the lowest tier 5G start). This applies for new lines and upgrade eligible lines. $800 credit is applied over 36 months. If switching, you are also eligible for another $200.

While many phones on VZW seem to have "get up to $800 off with trade", these Samsung phones say simply "get $800 off with trade"

I was able to submit for $800 trade in value using some really old phones including an iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7 Edge. I am an existing customer that was upgrade eligible for multiple lines.

Step father just did this today with an old Galaxy 7 & got a brand new S22 basically for free. I fail to see how this isn't an incredible deal! Thinking of maybe doing the same with my S9+. I mean why not? What does it matter if the credit is applied over a 3 year period? Still ends up being free doesn't it?

I hate that Verizon went to 36 month installments and bill credits. People moan over the 36 month "contract" but the real travesty is being locked down to the plan eligibility requirements for 36 months and also having your line ineligible for other upgrade promotions due to the device payments.

With that said this promo is the best I've seen since they moved to 36 month installments. Plan eligibility only requires the 5G Start plan and very old phones like the iPhone 6 and Samsung S6 qualify for the highest tier trade in. In addition trade in phones can be damaged. These phones are easy to buy for less than $50 used.

The slick deal here is to double dip trade in. Buy through Samsung and pay with Verizon device installment and maximize the the 2 trade ins with Samsung for instant credit. Then trade in an older phone like the S6 for $800 bill credits over 36 months. You only need 2 months to break even and anything after that is cherry on top.

Deal is great, just the Verizon 3 year contract sucks. I have been with Verizon for 15+ years. I don't mind Verizon but sucks getting stuck to a contract. I use my phones heavily so after 18 months they tend to slow down so I like selling my old one's and getting the newest one.

But if you don't mind it then it's a great deal.
My parents got the Samsung s22 when it came out for free over 3yrs and my brother has the iPhone 13 for free over 3yrs. So it's a great deal depending on your usage

also, chat or go to the Verizon store. I had a loyalty credit of 20$ for 4 lines so worth a shot

Does the old phone have to be in excellent condition? Will they not honor the credit if it's not?

I don't think the Samsung site let's you do a trade in with them if you select Verizon. It only let me do the Verizon trade in when I selected Verizon. The Samsung trade in only showed up on the unlocked version

Nvm, you have to submit the trade in with Samsung first. Then after getting the phone you submit a trade in with Verizon through their website

Just wanna say if you buy a fodder phone to trade-in and you get an error when confirming the IMEI, call their actual tech support. They will create a note on the account if there is a pending trade-in on your fodder phone and you should be able to enter in the number and drop the last 3-4 digits to push it through.

I ran into this error and had 2 hours of problems before I got pushed up to their tech support and got an awesome rep that actual followed through and followed up with me after the trade-in process completed.

Also just a note, don't rely on their mailers, I never got mine cutting close to the trade-in deadline and just printed out their pre-paid labels and re-used a ton of amazing packaging material. Also take pics/video while you pack it up just in case, you never know with verizon.

So the idea is that the trade in promo should be available after you get the phone from Samsung with VZW DPP on the after trade-in pricing? Obviously there is no way to verify this beforehand.

Wait so I just did an order with Samsung directly to trade in a vzw flip3 for a flip4 and watch/case/charger for about 100. Your telling me once I receive the phone I can "submit a trade in" direct with Verizon for 36mo of bill credits in exchange for a crappy s7 I have?

The idea is to buy the phone on installment from an approved Verizon 3rd party retailer such as Samsung (Best Buy is another one) which allows you to take advantage of any 3rd party retailer promotions as well as Verizon's promotions which are generally tied to device installment and plan eligibility.

So the rough steps would be:

1.) Go through Samsung to order a Verizon device such as the Fold, Flip, S22 series, etc.
2.) Leverage Samsung's trade in promos (e.g. people had been trading in Flip 3s and 2 devices) and any other promotional offers
3.) On the order page under "Choose your purchase option" choose Verizon Financing (may require a credit check)
4.) During checkout you will need to Upgrade or Add a new line/start new service with Verizon
5.) Ensure your Upgrade/New line meets plan eligibility (i.e. 5G Start Unlimited or above)
6.) When the device arrives activate it on the Upgraded/New line.
7.) Visit https://www.verizon.com/trade-in and go through the trade in process as an existing customer by logging into your Verizon account and selecting your trade in device (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S6) to verify the promotional trade in pricing. When choosing the Device Condition do not select "Damage condition" as that does not correlate to the "damage phone" condition in the promotion.
8.) You can either (a) complete the online trade in submission where Verizon will send you a box to mail in the trade in or (b) go to a corporate Verizon store and submit the trade in - you should receive the same amount as appears on the trade in portal
9.) Do a happy dance?
