S7: last year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR but no camera to navigate
S7+: S7 with additional auto empty base S7 MaxV: this year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR and camera to navigate. More powerful than S7 S7 MaxV Plus: S7 MaxV with auto empty base S7 MaxV Ultra: S7 MaxV with auto empty dirt and water base that can also clean the mop and refill the vacuum's water tank |
You can buy the canister on Amazon to make it bagless but it costs $65. Depending on your needs it may not be worth it. In my case I can buy many years worth of bags at that price point.
Considering third party bags are around $20 for 12 and each bag lasts 6 weeks, more for me, I can buy 4+ years worth of bags instead of the canister. |

Got the Ecovacs N8 + about a month ago and returned it (RMA was a major PITA) as it was total rubbish, and I've been an Ecovacs fan for a while. No longer.
Got the Roborock S7 + from Home Depot two weeks ago (still well within my return window) and it blows all other vacs out of the water. Picked up a whole bin of rubbish right after the N8+ did a final run before being RMAd. The auto removal bin is a night and day difference from Ecovac's version, enough so that I'm not checking it after every run to see if it emptied properly. Nor do I feel the need to do maintenance by cleaning the filter every 2nd run (more like every 20th run on the Roborock).
So the mopping auto empty is a game changer, from the S7 this thing will pick up dirt daily on the wooden parts of my floors. It's leaps and bounds better than the other solutions I've tried over the years. But for it to be effective I have to set a timer every 10 minutes, stop the vac, clean the pad, and re-apply it, which isn't going to happen in the long run.
With the Ultra from the reviews I've been reading, it sounds like it will do for mopping what my first non-crap Ecovacs did for me which is make the difference between not vacuuming hardly ever to having everything tip-top. After you see that dirty water / dustbin fill up after multiple runs you really appreciate what these things bring to the table.
