Are the heelcaps very stiff and unpadded?

I have a pair Saucony Cohesion13 that bother my right heel because it is a bit more bony and protruding than the left one, and the stiff unpadded heelcap appears to be part of the problem.

Got a pair but keep in mind that there is a $5 shipping charge for return prepaid label. Also, adding healthcare/teacher/military discount will remove the other coupons, so stick with MRCONA and 10OFF
