I've only had a fire in it twice. What I really use it for is lighting my charcoals for BBQ smoker. Keeps the basket separated from the ground and I don't have to bend over as far to get the basket to put in the smoker.
The only real problem I have is the hole at the bottom gets plugged and rain will fill up so I just flip it over once in a while.

These low-end Walmart fire pits are made of the lowest quality metal pressed incredibly thin and won't last a full season even if you take care of them well.
That said, for $16 it might be worth it if you just want a fire pit you can use 5 or 6 times and then toss out in the spring.
