Tried this at a local Bestbuy and the fans were continuously spinning, making high-pitch noise. The machine is quite noisy. I went to a different store to try the same machine again just in case, and it had the same problem.

Honestly, all gaming laptops are loud as hell. You basically need to plan on playing with headphones on a laptop. It's a space limitation, along with smaller fans being more high-pitched/annoying. Some are better designed that others, obviously. I usually recommend getting a desktop for gaming, especially with prices coming down, unless you absolutely need the portability. They're much quieter and have much better performance. I can't even hear my build during a heavy gaming load. Even factoring in a monitor, keyboard and mouse, you can get a much better performing desktop for this price now. There's a market for these things, but I know way too many people who buy a gaming laptop and it never leaves their desk.

Has anyone tried using the 144Hz screen? Just wondering what contrast and color gamut it has. Thanks!

Does Asus include 4 black keycaps you can use to swap out the white ones for when you're not a gamer and so your laptop doesn't look like you lost those 4 keycaps and popped on some not-matching white ones? Looks horrid.

Well this one is new. Has a faster GPU, faster CPU, faster ram but it's also $300 more. I wouldn't call it a wash exactly but it just depends on what you want to spend.

They should buy Tonka, then they could release the Tonka Tuf line of products. I prefer Asus over most others but man their marketing is a miss sometimes lol.

Yes. Generally gaming laptops require extra cooling... which means... fans.
