The 1/2s are generally more powerful, but heavier and larger. Great for lug nuts, exhaust, trucks, etc.
I'm not sure the size difference between this 3/8 and the brushed 1/2. I've been eying the brushless compact 3/8 which is way smaller.
I picked this up as a bare refurb from Direct Tools for $24 but you'd have to be okay with a refurb, wait for them to put it on sale, pay shipping, wait for it to actually arrive, and you don't get the bonus battery.
Edit - DT link in case someone really doesn't want to spend money and is fine waiting forever for it to (maybe) go on sale. https://www.directtools

I have the model here and the beefy 1/2" Ryobi (currently on sale as well here - https://slickdeals.net/f/16004785-ryobi-one-hp-18v-brushless-cordless-4-mode-1-2-in-high-torque-impact-wrench-with-4-0-ah-lithium-ion-high-performance-battery-pbliw01b-pbp004-159?p=157247440
The 1/2 is much larger and heavier but will take off any lugs you can throw at it basically. It was tested to put out 600+ ft/lbs of actual torque, just check out the torque YouTube channel review.

Obviously the 3/8 isn't meant for the same tasks. It's still great in tight places vs trying to get stuff off by hand.
I've never broken a non impact socket or adapter if I have to use one in a pinch in the middle of a repair, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
