These are not brushless, but for a drill and an impact driver, with 2 two amp batteries, a charger, and a lifetime warranty, I'm not sure you can do any better - especially if you're only looking for a homeowner kit or you just want a spare.

Home Depot has apparently added this kit to it's subcompact bogo deal. If you add the circular saw as your free gift, then the price of this kit breaks down to $67.09.

Really great deal but home depot has been good so I feel guilty to use this hack. There might be a real reason to return an item but doing this trick shouldn't be one of them.
They deserve to be taken advantaged of after one of my orders last year. Ordered an electric router and saw blades for ~$109, and they marked it as "shipped". Two weeks later, FedEx still had it as "Label Printed - Awaiting Item". Talked to customer rep and they were adamant it was shipped out and refused a refund. 2 more weeks went by, still no product, so I got in touch again, and they told me they are searching for it in warehouse. 1 more week went by - never heard back. Filed a PayPal claim, and PayPal asked them to respond. 2 more weeks - PayPal portal said they never heard back, so I got my refund from Paypal. This is what happens when 2/3 of the staff they hire are high schoolers just starting to learn the difference between a hexagon and an octagon in geometry class.

Return fraud? Wtf are you smoking buddy. That's the GOOD shit!

Returning an unopened, brand new item isn't fraud.
Using this hack may not be "fraud," but you're buying something with the intent of returning it, just to get a discount on something else. Returns cost sellers money even if the item is unopened. The seller has to issue a refund, put the item back into inventory, and eat any shipping costs they paid for when the item was purchased. Would you do this to an ebay seller?

I do know how the hack works. Your solution of return everything or nothing doesn't work for the method used where the second item is simply not picked up. If it helps in my example tell the guy you want the one for $30 instead of $20.

Also, their stipulations clearly state buy XY and get Z free. They do not say buy XY and Z and get XY for $67.12 and Z for $42.35.
Actually, when you put the 2 items in the cart, it does in fact change the price of the Cordless 2-tool combo kit from $139 to $67.09 (and says "save 52%") and changes the price of the circular saw from $149 to $71.91 (and says "save 52%"). That's what it says in the shopping cart, so whatever you said is incorrect.

It takes a minute to issue a refund. If you don't pick up one of the items, it's automatically done by the system and the item is placed back on the shelf.

Home depot is a billion dollar company and are not impacted by this hack in the slightest. Hell, they practically encourage it because they keep having these types of promotions.

How useful is the right angle drill set for average house use?

I have one and rarely use it, but when I do need it (like between joists/studs or under a sink/cabinets) it's super handy.

As an alternative with a lot of flexibility, consider the M12 installation driver or Bosch Flexiclick.

Yes. (Unless the physical size of the 9AH is just too large for a particular tool)

Most people around here can easily convince themselves that return fraud is ok cause it's a big company or whatever. It's stealing however you want to slice it.
Home Depot has had these hacks for years, if they had an issue with it then they would have put it to an end years ago. Continue your ignorance though

Yep! You're right. Most people can justify and rationalize anything, that benefits them.
We've been living in a "it's all about me" world for sometime.

I'm learning a lot about what constitutes fraud or not... but not much about whether this drill/driver set is good.

Is this a good drill set to keep around the house for various maintenance work?

I mentioned earlier in this thread, this set is the low/mid Ridgid tier. As a home owner, yes, this is good. If youre a home owner diy'er that does a lot of projects, I'd get the better line.

Great, thanks! We are not DIY'ers... Seems like it would work well enough for us. TBH, I don't even know what a driver is or what it does.

No problem, we all learn. Drivers are awesome for screws and even smaller lag bolts. Lag bolt size depends on power of tool so this set may do smaller lags. Get yourself a bit set and drill set.

Something like this:
