My phone came with Android 10 in 2020 and auto-updated to Android 11 a while ago. There's no way to know when this sale phone was manufactured, perhaps Amazon is clearing out older units. TCL's latest series starts with "3." It's unknown what Android version this has and whether it will receive future OS updates. If I knew this phone on sale came with Android 12 and would receive at least one update to Android 13, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for those who don't need bells and whistles as the sale price is fantastic. I found an unlocked, open box Samsung S21 FE at a price I'm comfortable with, with a defined update schedule for a few years, and am awaiting delivery on that. Once I switch over, I'll likely end up using my 10L in the living room as a universal remote for my Roku TV and HTPC.
Pixel 4a 5g: $150-$190, Better camera, 5G support, Latest Android updates first, etc.
Even some used Galaxy s10+'s are now dipping to around the same price.

Used phones = risky bet on battery life/actual capacity.
1. Battery.
2. Screen crack.
3. Outdated Android version with no upgrade option from manufacturer.
4. Moisture.
A major problem is if those phones had gone underwater by accident. There are moisture inside. But on the surface, the phones look perfect. Nobody is going to tell you that.
The buyer will find out sooner or later, only after the purchase.
And "renewed" tablets have similar problem but unlikely to have moisture because it is rare for a tablet to drop to water.
