Axl wrote the lyrics; Slash wrote the guitar parts which is obviously what I was referring to. The Sweet Child and November Rain solos are regularly included on critic and reader-voted "best guitar solos of all time" lists. To say they are iconic is an understatement. Also some of the few music videos on YouTube to have over 1 billion views -- not bad for 30+ year old tunes.

You're factually wrong about the whole "most people under 40" bit -- look at the demographics on who's buying his guitars, merchandising, the age demos of people attending the GN'R shows. Slash is one of the most popular guitar "heroes" out there (and his partnership on the Guitar Hero videogames certainly didn't hurt) and there are STILL young players picking up their first axe because of Slash.

I've been to both GN'R shows and his solo shows and the audience age ranges are extremely diverse. You'll see teenagers, millennials, middle-aged folks, even retirees.

The GN'R reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of *all time.* If it were just 40+ year old people interested in Slash/GN'R then these stats just wouldn't exist. You're living under a rock if you think he "wouldn't be on most people's top 20 lists"... he's literally routinely ranked as one of the all-time great guitarists by critics and average Joes. He's one of the few guitarists out there who's truly a household name.

Let us know when you write Sweet Child O' Mine, November Rain or Estranged.

Slash is a huge draw for Gibson. Big enough that they gave him an entire signature line a couple years ago.

It's more likely this color just isn't as popular and this company has excess stock.

Yeah prob just the bad pic but it looks like a fancy studio more than a Signature Standard.

I'd prob go for goldtop or the anaconda one before this color. Nice deal though!

Their return policy is 45 days but doesn't include guitars (once opened).

Something about no covers on the pick-ups rubs me wrong and sort of screams 'cheap'....
any of the gibson standards are pretty incredible, nothing about them feels cheap

I remember my first "big" purchase when I was in high school. A used $300 1993 Wine Red Gibson Les Paul Studio that I swapped the pickups for the SD Alnico II's. Still rocking it today.

These custom shops are playable pieces of art though if you have the disposable bucks!

I like Slash but he's hardly a virtuoso. I'd bet it's the Slash branding that's losing it's draw a little.

I totally agree, for almost 3k I want gold plated humbuckers and a Bigsby at least.Probaly doesn't sound any better than the Studio model either, but nonetheless a nice guitar IF you got that kind of dough laying around.

Axl wrote November Rain and Estranged. Also, just because you write music doesn't make you a virtuoso musician. And most prople under 40 wouldn't know who Slash is, even the guitar playing ones. All that said, I'm sure there are enough GnR fans around to make the sponsorship deal profitable, but Slash isn't in my top 20 guitarists... nor most people's I'd bet. He's a showman, a nice guy, and has some street cred, but I wouldn't pay a premium for a Slash guitar.

A bit salty, aren't you?

1) Slash never claimed to be a "virtuoso," even though people who consider only instrumental guitarists as virtuosi simply have the meaning of the word wrong.

2) //most prople under 40 wouldn't know who Slash is, even the guitar playing ones//
This is just a troll comment.

3) //Slash isn't in my top 20 guitarists... nor most people's I'd bet.//
I personally don't care about your list of top 20 guitarists, but I'm eager to wager a bet with you that most people who have a list of top 20 guitarists would include Slash in it. Want to bet in crypto?

P.S. I do think Slash nowadays does not sound nearly as good as he was in the 90s or 00s. I went to his solo concert recently and he just plays... fast.
