5800x + B550 from Amazon at around $350
64GB RAM looks not necessary. Probably you can consider upgrade to DDR4 CL16 3600MHz 16GB or 32GB @around $150, or save some money no upgrade.
NVME SSD? maybe another $100
GPU, hard to tell, wait till GTC to make a decision. But you still have at least $500 left, even enough for a 4070
Thx for all the feedback!

and i came across this article

long story short, IF you have 3090 AND play 1080P for the highest frame possible with CPU intensive games, then it is 23% slower than 5800x.
but if you play 1440p or 4k, or don't have 3090 or equivalent GPU, the difference between 2700 and 5800 is single digit.
IIRC TDP on this is 105w and TDP on the 5600x is 65 or 75w.
Just (like, yesterday) built my sons new gaming PC with a 5600x and its a beast.
In this case I feel like faster CPU (5800x) doesnt necessarily equal better, all things considered.
MC still have $25-$50 new customer on this?
But for tech savvy casuals, this a great CPU/$ value. It should provide 4-5 years of more than adequate computing performance - possibly longer depending on the success rate and yield of smaller nm fabs. Hardcore gamers/programmers/etc. should probably wait for the next gen, though.

however, time has changed. intel's 12 gen CPU is actually much more capable at MSRP than AMD (how time has changed). the i5-12600K that is found for about 280 dollar beats 5800x in pretty all benchmarks. as long as 12600k can be had for 280, i don't see why, other than hardcore AMD fan, would pay 5800 over 12600k.
to borrow tomshardware (or any of you favorite website)
"The Core i5-12600K vs Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 7 5800X battle ends in a five to three win in Intel's favor, with much of that advantage coming from the 12600K's outstanding performance for its price point.
...
Additionally, even though the ~$390 Ryzen 7 5800X is ~$100 more than the 12600K, the Alder Lake chip was 3% faster in gaming, 15% faster in single-threaded work, and 7% faster in multi-threaded productivity applications. Yes, the Ryzen 7 5800X beats the Core i5-12600K in a few threaded tasks, but by comparatively slim deltas given its higher pricing."

bottom line.. 5800x is not going to move as a 450USD part, it is at most a 280 par, and the price of it on amazon is largely between 280 and 300 since launch of intel 12 gen CPU, and i just don't see it ever going to back to 450, or even higher than 280. it is still a deal, but it is not as large as people think.
