This was shown in the Costco flyer for this month, but its a specific item that could use more direct discussion. I'm considering one for our house, but wanted input from users of the Fusion line. This one jumped out because it now supports 8 fusion channels, where previous NVRs only supported 2. That means future expansion can include their doorbell, spotlight cam, interior cams, and wireless exterior cams. There was even a review were a user was able to add a poe switch to the network and the NVR found the new wired cams that way.
Manufactures description:

There is a similar system located on the Lorex website, but the NVR looks different and its much more expensive. Hoping for discussion from security system slickdealers on the quality of this new setup especially when we can get it for 150.00 off now:

One interesting camera feature I saw notes in the documentation was the cams have a micro SD port. I have not verified on the actual cams, but it's mentioned in the manual. The doorbell uses that to store the footage, but I think the NVR would do that for the wired cams. Maybe it's stored in both places, in case the NVR is stolen? Not sure, just a new feature on these cams I hadn't seen before.
Price seems in line with similar systems from last year (8cam, 4k, 2tb) but the 8 fusion is a big seller for me.
Any security people chime in with their thoughts?
Camera:
4K is only at 15fps
for the normal 30fps it goes down to 5MP
(I couldn't find the frame rate for night vision)
Claims 150 ft night vision; if frame rate for 4K is at 15fps during day and anything less during night vision I am not sure about the picture quality (can anyone with any Lorex camera please comment about the night vision performance)
NVR:
there is only one bay with 2TB HD; if you want more space you cannot add, but you can replace with max 8TB HD
Manuals from the Lorex website for this particular product has very limited information
Price wise, seems very reasonable for a 16 channel NVR with 8 cameras (I am going to call 5MP cameras rather than 4K cameras)
My only concern is about the camera performance, particularly in night vision
The cam performance is the real question mark here as they appear to be a new offering with little details on how they work in the real world. Not sure what I think of the LED color ring, could be useful sometimes I suppose. I prefer the cam to stay dark as to not draw attention to it... a light on the cam seems like it would notify someone of where the cam is and they might try to avoid or damage it. Of course, maybe the install only turns the light on for some cams... its just a new feature I have not used before.
Costco return policy has always been generous, so there is little risk if the don't work out. Still on the fence here, and the discount goes for a little while yet.
In your one, been waiting for a sale on this unit. I have a Reolink in my other house and works good. Think this system will work great but will need longer length Cat cables. Also adding wireless cameras a big plus because my back yard is a bear habitat.

I'm leaning more toward grabbing this set, its a pretty good value for performance - especially with the limited deals on security systems lately.

I may get the kit to see if night time performance has improved.
BTW, instead I got
1. a Ubiquity Gigibit poe managed switch, (Rock solid performance)
2. 4k Hikvision vandal proof dome cameras (the bullet type is easily broken off)
3. 256 GB Samsung Endurance SD cards for all cameras
Installed on main house and vacation house, and I can see everything from anywhere. HikVision software is unorganized and illogical, but enough support online to get advanced features to work. Basic setup is trivial.
Thanks for the note gmxno
Costco: I like their return policy on security cameras .. it used to be very good. ( you have to double check if it still is )
Lorex Costco kits: The newer cameras have smaller sensors .. which I do not like as much as the larger sensor models
( Cameras have: Image Sensor Size1/2.8 in. ) So expect these cameras to do OK in the day light, but not well in low light
iirc these cameras have wide FOV .. 2.8mm lens ? .. so the ID distance will be shorter than I like ( 3.6mm is about 90 degree H FOV which imho is better - see the DORI section of the ipcamtalk cliff notes or one of my old costco camera deal threads )
White light leds in cameras .. really not that effective from what reviewers have posted .. so most see this as a bit of a gimmick vs better larger sensors
Price: $650 .. nice price imho for a kit now ..
Personally, if you need low light performance - you will want better cameras.
One option: is to augment this kit by replacing 1-2 cameras with better Dahua OEM 4MP 1/1.8" sensor models .. perhaps a varifocal if you want to catch someone at the start of your driveway. ( you may need to sync the user / password, IP address info, and substream info )
[ this is the option I would do if I were to buy this kit and not spend more money on a pricier custom option .. note, look for Andy EmpireTecAndy post at ipcamtalk, he's got a sale still happening through this weekend if you want to save a little $ on the 1-2 cameras .. he has a store on Amazon so you have less risk purchasing than stores on Aliexpress .. ]
Kits: I prefer to use bulk cat6/5e cable for my runs, as it allows me to customize the length, and reduce the size of any holes I need to drill. Thus often I do not want to use the cat5e cable from the kits. ( iirc the cable is decent in the Lorex kits, though they may not be UV rated .. so keep them in the shade or paint over them .. )
ipcamtalk may have a thread on this particular camera .. I know there has been mentions on the prior model which looks similar but has a round face, not this off round-squarish face.
Black Friday .. as I have not seen many larger sensor models offered from Lorex and other typical vendors .. I am having low hopes this year for a great black friday set of deals on cameras I like.

15fps should be fine for most security camera setups, remember the key is getting good snap shots for possible ID purposes as well as "what happened" ( What and Who .. )
30fps .. while nice, takes up 2x more storage space .. and often does not give much more info in terms of what happened, or who did it.
150 feet night vision .. lol .. do not trust the vendor's marketing here .. they all are not fully accurate.
For low light you will need better cameras ..
Also see the DORI section of the ipcamtalk cliff notes, I've updated that section recently and the math should be more clear now.
