I thought this is being cleared out at $899. This is not the new model.

I ordered this laptop on 8/18 for $1,397 sold and shipped by walmart.com so I wouldn't get scammed. On 8/20 I received a small ½ pound box with a cheap $35 smart watch in it. Returned it with the label they provided that took three tries to finally get them to admit the box size and weight they sent me was too small to be the laptop and they received the return on 8/25. I am still going back and forth with them trying to credit the money back for the laptop.

Online chat support is useless.

Initial phone support is out of the country and a bunch of "don't worry, we will fix this".

If you are lucky and finally get to the next level of phone support it's a mother in the US working from home with her kids in the background.

And at any of these steps you'll get disconnected while on a long "brief hold".

Great laptop I ordered one when they were $1399.

Keeps up well compared to the 2022 models, 3070ti isn't a big jump from 3070, and they aren't going to offer an AMD/nvidia Legion in 2022, the Ryzen models will have an AMD GPU when they release.

Paid full online price a year or more back and it's still solid as a rock for me. Just don't expect a featherweight laptop - L5P with the power brick is quite heavy.

Facts > fanboy

I have this laptop, and although the 3070 performs well when it works, the drivers suck and are buggy AF. 32-bit OGL stuff crashes, enabling external displays cause the DE to consume whole CPU cores, and it's taken 1.5 years of bug reports from many people for them to even start looking into any of it.

I had none of these issues with the RX580 or the Vega in the 3500u (although that one had wake from sleep issues, which I think were HP BIOS bugs...).

IMO the quality of computing products has gone down hill with the "ship it now, update it later [maybe]" mentality that Microshifty has pushed and gotten everyone to accept.

I love Nvidia cards and all the premium gimmick features and my favorite games are usually a bit better on them but thier drivers are way worse than amd and have been an off and on clown show for a long time. Never as bad as Amd drivers were in like 2010. The rabbid fanboys have to stick to the narrative as copium.

My girls Radeon machine rarely has the odd hiccups mine does or needs as much tinkering with settings....

If anyone's interested, I bought the 3060 variant in early July and I want to sell it. It's a long story, but I don't want or need it and I'm outside of Walmart's return policy. It works perfectly, of course. I just want to avoid eBay or FB marketplace. $1200 OBO. To sweeten the deal, I also bought the 2-yr Allstate accidental protection warranty.
