I placed the order last night and chose the "FREE" item (6AH XC battery) and 14 hours after order was placed It was partially cancelled. Reason: Out of stock on the 6AH hour battery! So they were going to refund me $123 (regular price for the 6AH battery) So for those of you who want just the tool you may be lucky as they will refund full price of the battery. My order total was going to be $180.20. So the tool itself would cost approximately $57! Not bad!

You left out the most vital part... what method of shipping or pickup did you use for each of the two items?

Similar deal available on Toolnut (but obv. without the HD hack option): Tool with 4Ah battery, plus free 6Ah battery, plus 9-piece blade kit (selling for $54 on HD) for a total of $219.97. Supposedly this deal is good until later October, but I doubt it'll last that long.

I might try the HD hack but won't be bothered if it's too much of a hassle and end up with a free 6Ah battery.

My bad I got too excited, mistakenly bought the NON-Fuel version for $74.35 out the door which is not too bad considering it's $99 now ($69 base price). Now I'm deciding if I should return this & upgrade to the M12 Fuel version. Any suggestions Slickdeals friends?

I was hoping for customer service to 'out of stock" the battery and refund 6 am battery. of course they didn't. It's being delivered to house. Can this hack still happen? If I just return the battery without a receipt, will it pop up on their side and refund 6amp battery amount? Or just return the whole package? Thanks

I chose ship to store I go to regularly. I assumed these will be shipped to store. I found out a bit later during a 45 minute call with Home Depot that if an item shows in stock at the store they will not ship to that store which is stupid. So for example, a store shows 5 items in stock and the worker goes to location and does not find item they will not ship to the store and cancel your order. This is what happened with my order. So during the 45 min call to HD I had it shipped to my address and the battery came today and am charging it now.

Check your invoice. The battery should be a separate line item from the tool which will allow you to return it and keep the tool.

Thanks for the response. I'll just return everything if it can't be done. Getting it today. Thanks again!
I just checked it. It's only $70 for the battery.

So when order was placed, you selected "ship to store", however the work in the store was trying to find one from their stock?
That sounds weired, because the work in the store did not need to find one for you since you selected "ship to store".

I just set both for store pickup. The item I want at my closest HD. free item at another store. Then just don't pickup free item and they refund after 7 days.
I wonder if at some point this gets u band for excessive returns if we keep repeating the HD hack deals
