Too bad it's not the XPS version
You can upgrade it to xps. But I think it's worth more if it was sliding and upgrade to xps (~$90)

A 12" slider is a beast, takes up tons of space, and is overkill for me. I would probably never even use the sliding function. However, a visible cutline is a must for me. I know that some Dewalt saws can be upgraded to XPS but that costs more money and is a hassle, so sort of kills the deal for me.

There are more accurate ways to ensure a proper cut than using a shadowed blade as your guide. I definitely wouldn't call that a "must".

I don't know about this saw, but on the previous Lowe's deal with the Single Bevel saw, it also did not have a laser.

I bought this addon:
https://www.amazon.com/Oshlun-LG-...002PMV4UG/

And it works extremely well!

The only thing I don't like about it, is you have to have the saw blade turning to get the laser to light up, as the device only turns itself on when it senses the rotation/movement.

And the 780 version that has the cutline isn't part of the free stand deal. Besides, if I were to do it I want the rolling stand.

LOL. Don't assume you know what is a "must" for me. Been doing this work for 40 years yet it never fails how some "experts" here on this site tell me what I need. GTFO.

Thanks for the tip but tried that device and not a fan, but I can definitely see where some people like the laser line.

Wish there was a deal like this for a 10". Already have a 12" sliding but would like something smaller and portable for simple/common construction type cuts that'll never be more that 4x4 material.

Man, those who do the hacks are shady AF. I mean, shame on Lowes/HD for not putting processes in place to handle this like nearly every other retailer does, but the some people apparently don't care about the ethics of this.

Decent saw, crap stand, though i'm sure it's fine for the non-sliding dewalt saws. I wouldn't trust that stand with the sliders at all and I have first hand experience with it. The rolling saw is a much better product.
I'm not saying I would do it but if they don't ask for the stand back it isn't that unethical, it is their own stupid fault.

Have you been in a home depot lately? Do you know how much they charge normal price for a ryobi drill/impact driver combo? Or for that matter how much they charge for a freakin garden hose, it is highway robbery!

Except that's not how ethics works. If you know it's wrong, it's still unethical.

What is robbery to one person is a deal to another. If I make $10k/year using that drill/driver I don't care if it is $99/set or $199/set because i'm going to buy it no matter the price so I can get the $10k/year. If you're a broke college student, $199 vs. $99 is huge.

Hell, i've seen people pay upwards of $10k in camera gear to take pictures of flowers in their garden and it's just a hobby to them. I felt bad spending less than $4k and I was making a little bit of money from my photography. Everyone values things differently.

"What is robbery to one person is a deal to another." Ok fine then what is unethical to one person is completely legit to another.
