Buy a DEWALT 12" compound miter saw, get a free stand. Good in store and online.

Man, those who do the hacks are shady AF. I mean, shame on Lowes/HD for not putting processes in place to handle this like nearly every other retailer does, but the some people apparently don't care about the ethics of this.

Decent saw, crap stand, though i'm sure it's fine for the non-sliding dewalt saws. I wouldn't trust that stand with the sliders at all and I have first hand experience with it. The rolling saw is a much better product.
I read it just fine:
"I'm not saying I would do it but if they don't ask for the stand back it isn't that unethical, it is their own stupid fault."

And I responded, "that's not what ethics is".

Ethics - moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity.

You know you're supposed to give back the free item when you return the paid item. Whether they ask for it or not is irrelevant. Being ethical means doing the right thing no matter what.
Again, that's not how ethics works.

Some of you guys returning partial merchandise are costing everyone else money. It's almost like saying "I got this for free at my local B&M because I walked out the garden center door with it and nobody stopped me". That's called stealing MF.

Can you people please leave your feelings at home? I do come here for comments and reviews but don't care to hear people's opinions on ethics. Please take it somewhere else

I've worked in heavy construction for over a decade -- everything from building a new power plant (Carroll County Energy) to building a new medical research facility (Medpace Cincinnati) to work on bridges (Russell Viaduct / KY-244 Bridge Replacement).Cabinet work, trim, doors, form work, you name it.. on site, I have never once maxed a 12" non sliding miter saw. The little shadow thing is nifty, but if you're doing any kind of real detail work, you're pre-scoring the cut and aligning with the blade.Sliders are cool, and sure, you could saw a small person in half with one, and yeah, it's nice to have the extensions on a stand, but they sag quite a bit. I've always used separate roller stands, and probably always will.

They only sag on heavier pieces. For trim work the extensions work great.

Everything I do is heavy AF 😂. 14' tall solid wood doors get to be absolutely nutty.

I've never cut doors with a miter saw

I don't cut them down with a miter saw, but all of the trim / casing / millwork is heavy. Nothing is pre-hung.
