It does not get hot. The review of the last year's model with 5600H/5800H are available in both YouTube and written sites by multiple reviewers which you can check out. This year's model is just a CPU swap with 6000H series which is in fact, more power efficient.

It is hard to tell the difference between 2k and 4K on a 16 inch screen, I d rather focus on things like as color gamut,PWM, etc. 2k is fine for me at least.

+1. The price is keep going down by $20 consistently for last couple of weeks now. $840 is pretty decent price for this laptop but may be it can go down below $800 mark soon.

if it goes below 800 ill definitely shoot, im still worried about it getting too hot if im on heavy load in a hot day like 33ºC/90ºF that heat sink shooting air in the screen/keyboard is what leaves me skeptical, but still a great laptop whatsoever.

does anyone knows if it comes with either a killer/intel wifi card or is it with a mediatek/realtek card?

Depends upon your habbit. A lot of people using FHD, switching to 2.5K or 4K can't notice it in 14.6 or 16 inch screen but people working on higher resolution display for long time, can spot it. The color spec of the display covers 100% sRGB by DCI-P3 Aand Adobe RGB coverage is around 70%. Good for casual editing work but not anything serious or professional.

It looks like the price is $1089 on Lenovos regular site. I am pretty sure the Amex $100 off $500 deal does not apply on EBay — just on Lenovos regular site. I wonder why they would price this differently on eBay

Oh okay, i appreciate the comment, i do am considering this one as a highly great choice, still researching a bit tho.

i've only found one video review of last years model regarding thermals, it was good content but it was 5800h and gtx 1650 and it didnt throttle but didnt mention the thermal comfort while using it. I also found some written reviews that say the wattage cap was like 45W, 50% higher according to lenovo video of this year's model and that one did throttle, so all i found was kinda blurry info nothing as direct regarding thermal comfort.

Needless to say I will definitely keep an eye on this on the following week and see how it's gonna behave since it's undoubtebly a great laptop, thanks.

Oh so tempted to pull on this one. I've been shopping for a new personal use laptop for 6 months and really liked the Ideapad 5 i touched at BBY a while back.

Currently still using a ThinkPad T420 as my daily.

Anyone able to comment on battery life on this? My daily use is a lot of Linux command line, vscode, ansible, zoom, teams, etc as I am a systems engineer for a large healthcare company.

Can anyone comment if the unit on eBay has usbc charging or standard Lenovo plug? I see usb-c on ebay, but lenovo plug on their website.

Lastly, anyone know how well Lenovo supports these eBay models if a return or warranty service may be needed. I'm pretty gentle with my equipment, but you never know what may happen. I would probably get extended warranty for it.

Thanks!

I have a 5 year old 2017 ideapad 5 2-in-1. The hinge works fine with many hours use a day. However, the screen cracked in year 2 or 3 on both sides near the hinge, and a month ago a piece of plastic near the hinge on the bottom cracked and broke off as well. The screen is unaffected since the glass is cracked below the lcd.

I paid $500 for it on black friday 2017 and it has been an amazing laptop for that price. The first quadcore intel (8th gen) with a nice pen for notes and decent speakers and 7hrs battery life when the battery was in good condition (about 3 hours now). The 1080p screen colors are garbage but all around very happy with it.
