The only complaint I have on this headphone is that the cable is non-removable, although there are videos to mod this, and that it is, in my opinion, ridiculously long. Otherwise this is a classic and affordable headphone with clean sound, so long as you don't care about it being bass-light.
These are for all intents and purposes identical to the Sony MDR-V6. They're pretty much *the* professional choice since the 80s. If you watch video feeds of professional podcasts, Howard Stern, etc., you'll notice these being used everywhere.
The Beyerdynamic velour pads are a must-have. The included pads are really comfortable, but the outer layer begins flaking off after about a year of regular use. Probably depends on how oily your skin is.
Honestly, if you buy these headphones and they sound off, it's because your ears are used to bad headphones.

Great deal, thanks OP. I use these to balance volume levels in a mix after using other headphones and speakers to EQ and process and it works great. The ear cushions on mine started flaking after several years so I got the Wicked Cushions replacement set. Super comfortable and seem to be long-lasting.

The studio reference headphones all others are measured against. My pads have started flaking off. Need to get replacements. Just be careful when getting from 3rd parties as this is the most counterfeited headphone on the planet. These are not for you if you like boomy bass. these are used by pros for making studio masters in music and TV broadcast booths.

This is my standard studio monitor. I use this for mixing.
It is irreplaceable for me. I got it at $79 too after Guitar Center's 20% coupon.
This is not for audiophiles.
Strictly for the audio engineers.
Sony came out with an improved version a few years back and that product failed.
I just can't see myself switching to another headphone.

For some reason my Wicked Cushions started flaking much more quickly than the OEM pads, and without being used much. It may be due to the very low humidity in my apartment, not sure.

Just the ear pads are not comfortable. any thoughts on a good ear pads replacement?
I got mine upgraded to velour pads years ago. They were the Beyerdynamic 942704 pads. Fits great and washable. I think they discontinued them but you can still find some floating around.

I absolutely loved these headphones, they are very clear and sound xlnt with pretty much everything. If wired is not an issue for you, these are a great choice.
