Saw this in my Southwest app this morning and registered for various family members. The deal is... book one round trip (or two one-way flights) right now (now through 9/8) and get a companion pass for one trip (or two one-way flights) later - basically January/February next year.

I've got a flight to book anyway, which will get one.

Now I'm trying to figure out if it's worthy flying the kids out for lunch at another airport one day this fall in order to save more on a vacation in the spring.

I already have flights booked from the previous promotion. I wonder if "changing" them but picking the same $0 flight and not actually changing my flights will trigger it since rebooking would cost more. I'm assuming it won't work but might as well try.

Does it mean, the member must fly with companion? Or the companion by himself/herself can fly with a free ticket?

What does "Revenue" flight mean? Can I book the initial qualifying flight using points? or does it have to be money paid?

Can we book a travel with the RR points, then cancel the reservation and get the refund int he form of a travel funds towards a future travel. Then use the travel funds + some cash to make a new reservation? I know it's an extra step but do we qualify??

No. When you cancel a flight with points, it goes back to points.
