I'm not currently old, but statistically someday I will be.

I'm checking for the AARP discount codes for car rentals, which is why I want to check this.

True but there is a fix
Call the corporate office asked for the same deal and tell them you don't want any junk mail ever from AARP or any other second or third party vender or anything political ever.
The only thing I've authorized to AARP to be delivered to my mailbox is the following
1) membership card
2) magazine
3) newspaper
so far it's worked for me
If you're already a member and you're getting a lot of junk mail
Call ask AARP to take you off the junk mail list and only authorized the following to be sent to you
1) membership card
2) magazine
3) newspaper
It may take a few months before you see a reduction in junk mail

SD and many vendors who pay SD have discovered that if they post a deal here, even a lame one, the suckers will still bite.
One more tip: If you see an actual killer deal posted by someone who is not a staffer or affiliate, and it disappears to Deal Talk quickly and marked as an expired deal even though it really isn't expired, it is because SD is not getting a cut. That is why many lame deals stay active in Hot Deals or Front Page, such as for $3 off $20 for some dumb Amazon item, while some actual killer deal posted by a regular Joe SDer gets shuffled off, buried, and lost in limbo overnight.
I'm in my 30s - 40s and love AARP.
The 10% off at Carrabba's over the next 5 years will make this pay for itself.

I was signed up for aarp years ago just for the discounts, time to sign up again. I have 3 lines with att, that would be $360 savings per year
