I highly recommend anyone considering this deal to take screenshots of the deal, cart, checkout, etc. If I didn't have that information last year I would have been absolutely screwed out of $800 that I'm now receiving in bill credits. That $800 was supposed to be gift cards but after days of calling/texting for help I ended up in an Xfinity store where those printed screen shots and a helpful employee were able to at least get me those credits.

An additional reminder, if you want to preorder, you're limited to two preorders at a time. If your order is delayed this can knock you out of their promotional period so CYA with those screenshots of your actual order date/time and the offers at those times!

You are correct. Red Pocket is locked in for 1 year. Xfinity mobile is 2 months of service before you can unlock it.

If you take this $400 off deal, your phone will be locked for 24 months as credits are distributed over 24 months

I think Visible might have the best deal for those who just want their phone unlocked ASAP. They unlock after 2 months, but you need to keep the plan for 3 months to get their $200 gift card + AirPods 3.

In order to get the full $400 then yes you will need to stay with them for 24 months, but when you leave you can get it unlocked, but you forfeit the remaining credits and will have to pay for the remaining balance. The red pocket deal the phone is locked for one year regardless.

I don't think you can get it unlocked without the phone being paid off and if you pay off the phone you'll lose any remaining credits.

Nope. That's the catch and what you forfeit by accepting the $400 off. You are locked into Xfinity and Xfinity only for 2 years.

You can pay off the full amount (forfeit any bill credits); get it unlocked and stay with them.

That said - if all you want to do is add a second line on XM - you can do that anyway and still keep the bill credits / locked phone.

OTOH - if you're wanting a second line on the same phone - you may as well buy an unlocked phone from Apple directly (same price : $829 for iPhone 14) - and then bring the phone as a BYOD. Current BYOD prepaid card offer is $100; on occasion it has been $200, and check if you have a rewards offer that you can stack.
