I'm curious though if anyone else has gone through the steps to redeem and was unable and if they are checking your availability upfront rather than just checking to see later if your new phone gets connected to a magenta max plan. I tried redeeming the t-mobile offer via the Apple store app and it seems to want me to agree to change my plan or pay more to keep my current plan. It's confusing.

I did go through and verify that with the promotion you can still get that $800 promo with your plan, you don't have to change to Max, so you're all set!
The way that works is you will get a device credit for the market value of the phone, which is $185 for the iPhone 11. That would be applied to your account balance as a one-time credit. The remainder of the offer, $800 minus $185, is $615 and would be broken into 24 monthly installments for $25.62 per month, The monthly credit goes against the monthly charge.
