Proof of price:
I have been tracking this XPS 17", RTX 3060 model for a while now, and this is by far the best price I have seen to date. Finally pulled the trigger. While I wanted the i7 / 32GB version, RAM can easily be swapped up to that for under $200 and sell the16GB sticks. I plan on getting these later:

The next best deal I almost bought is this Costco one:
https://www.costco.com/dell-xps-1...23956.html
The Costco deal is $2,699 (300 off), double the RAM but only i7-12700H processor, and is still $500 more!
BestBuy has a similar model to Costco but only 16GB for $2799:

I'm convinced all these oems put old gpus with new 22th gen because the cpus are too power hungry and hot to cool with any higher of a gpuโฆ Plus a laptop battery has to last at least an hour to sellโฆ
This is way too expensive for not top of the line everything.
I hear that, mixed in with supply and demand too. If someone is going go the full blown gaming route, they likely will just get a desktop and save the money.
I'm looking for a premium business laptop with a side of gaming and video processing... To me, the only somewhat comparable (professional design first, then great specs) is the Razer Blade 15/17. They'll sell you a nice looking laptop with an i9 / RTX 3080 Ti... for $4,299 though!

Also just a note for anyone planning on upgrading the components. I upgraded to 64 gigs of RAM and also put in a second 2 TB hard drive. All of which was very easy to do. The battery also looks like it is user replaceable, which further extends the life of this laptop.
But just a word of caution when opening up the laptop. I found that I was having random issues with the mouse touchpad. It was registering clicks when there were no clicks, or pushing down on the palm rest was causing the laptop to think I was clicking on the touchpad. Eventually I figured out it was because I had over tightened the screws when replacing the bottom panel after I opened it to add the RAM and the hard drive. Turning the screws a couple of turns looser prevented it from happening again.
I saw a lot of reviews on YouTube mentioning the unpredictable behavior of the touchpad. I think some of it can be attributed to over tightened screws.

And battery, yeah, no matter what I tweak I can barely get 4-5 hours of basic work without AC. Far cry from the 8-10 hrs advertised. Feeling good about the 12th gen helping here too.
