I just can't see the point of buying anything until the new stuff hits the street. There is no downside to the consumer waiting until that point IMO. It's not a bad price. It's likely not going to be competitive to what's likely at the 399 price I'm 2 months though.

Only time will tell.

I am laughing a little bit since we have waited over 2 years for prices to come back to normal, and now we should wait another couple months for the new stuff to come out. Will we ever be able to buy a video card?

after waiting for the new stuff, we have to wait for prices to normalize, by then its back to waiting because the newer stuff is right around the corner lol

Pains me to say it, but this is actually a very decent deal atm. Price + tax gets you out the door at close to $400($424 with 6% tax) for a card that can punch its own weight with a 3070. It's not my dream scenario (6800 xt for $550 including tax + shipping) but I do like this card as a secondary card. In a household that wants to go from zero cards to 2 cards over the intermediate time, this makes a good intro card.

You're going to hear the argument that waiting and waiting until the next thing comes out puts you on a loop forever. These people don't get it. The POINT is to not buy something when the thing you are purchasing can get outdated or depreciates within a short amount of time. So the main point is TIMING of your purchase. You don't want to buy a motherboard only using usb 2.0 if they're going to update in a month or two with usb 3.0. You don't buy a high end video card if they're going to outdate them in a couple of months. The new cards will likely arrive late October for Nvidia and the announcement is just a little over a week away. After announcement, everyone will have to wait for benchmarks when the NDA disclosure is lifted so tech youtubers and websites benchmark the new 4090 and 4080 to tell you if the price is justified. My advice is, wait for a few weeks after Ethereum goes POS as cards will start to show up on the used market and new cards have to contest against that market because there were way too many miners buying all these GPUs in the last 20 months. It will not be a flood like most exaggerate but Nvidia launching cards will not affect current prices in my opinion. It is the used card market and AMD's 7000 series GPU launch that would affect prices. Nvidia is going to price their 4090 and 4080 high like the 20 series launch after a cryptomining crash.

Buy if you need it. Life is too short to wait. I got a 6800xt to run my games better and have been enjoying it.

I agree. This card will easily beat the 3060Ti at the same MSRP price (which I think is also a good buy if you must go Nvidia) as it's closer to 3070 performance in rasterization. I don't think Ray tracing is worth the premium. Nvidia cards will take much longer and will hold onto their MSRP price more stubbornly compared to AMD cards. If you need a card now, this is one of the best choices. The cards dropping in prices will be 6900XT, 3090, 6800XT (if you can find it in stock), 6700XT, then 3080Ti. The mid range cards will hardly drop in price, if at all. Most of the AIBs are factoring the midrange prices with inflation. You will have a hard time seeing the 3060Ti drop in price as the FE cards do not factor in inflation and are already low in margins. I expect Nvidia to price the 4080 to match market value of the 3080Ti and 3090 (which are currently around $900 and $990)

I would personally wait a couple more weeks. Prices are coming down again. I feel the 6700xt class will be on sales for $350 in the near future.

Always hold.

It's not about if the prices are good or not, it's about helping the companies burn a little Smilie

If someone wants this card, just buy it. Don't listen to these folks saying to "hold the line," like it's some kind of damn war. This is a great price, and if you need one now, get it. Sure, it could drop by $20 in 3 months or $50 in 6 months. But why in the world would you wait around that long for such a small discount that we don't even know will come?

This is exactly right. These "GPU warriors" have literally been around for years. Don't listen to them. They always say to wait. If one is available at a price you like when you need it, just get it. Smilie
