Anyone have this or the SW-12 and how is it for music? Considering buying this or the 12 inch version.

This MP sub looks better in every way IMO. The cheap Klipsch stuff has never sounded good to me.

Thanks. I've never used monoprice for anything other than cables. I know their Monolith subs are up there with SVS, just wasn't sure about these. Just want the best bang for the buck under $400.

For movies, this sub should be great. For music, the Klipsch probably will be cleaner.

Was pondering replacing my 2 Klipsch 12" subs with these as this seems like an insane price for 15" subs, but then I saw this video posted in one of the reviews on the website. They still gave it a pretty high rating, but... don't want to go through the hassle of trying to sell my current subs when they do a formidable job... only to potentially end up with something less clean.

Plus, my man cave is pretty small. Two 12" subs seems to be sufficient.

If your in that $400 range look at the svs outlet stuff. You may find one in there for $400.

Under $400 is tough for quality subs. If you're patient you'll probably be able to find a deal on a used one locally. That's how I got my first "real" sub (an old HSU ported 12" for $250).

Someone else mentioned SVS, and if I recall correctly the outlet PB-1000s usually dip down to $350 during sales, but they tend to sell out very quickly.

The best bang for your buck on a new sub *in my opinion* would probably be to wait for a sale on the Monolith 10", but that would likely be closer to $500 than $400.

Bottom line, short of finding something used, I think you would benefit greatly by extending the budget another $100-150.

I can't un-endorse SVS enough. Don't be sucked in by all the online reviews, they must be either purchased by the company or reviewers shilling for referral income. I bought at a great discount on their Memorial day sale and even at that price was completely underwhelmed. Their much-heralded customer service was not helpful either, so I ended up returning. This was a SB-1000 Pro.

For context I had been looking to replace 2 mismatched 8" subs that are 15+ yrs old and way underpowered by today's standards. The single SVS Pro was a step down in performance, verified subjectively and with REW measurements.

+1 to the poster who recommended multi sub, whichever brand you go with.

I'd recommend the Jamo 12 inch(on sale $150) it goes down to 30 and a bit lower. Check Woot.com

This sub has a frequency response that starts at 30....that is BAD.

A good subs response starts at 20 or lower. This is not a good sub whatsoever.

I watched that video before I actually decided to buy it. The guy had gain and volume set to max on the sub. I've never had one set over 70-75%.

Have any of you been burned buying used subs? I want to upgrade my Bic f12. I see great deals occasionally on Craigslist. Would you only buy if you could demo? Or are these pro level subs pretty robust where you wouldn't necessarily worry about getting one with an issue or doa?

I agree on not buying used powered sub. I lost a few hundred on one that will burn the fuse 10 minutes into playing. No problem when I tested it before buying.

Thanks for sharing the YouTube link. Was considering this until I watched that review. Thinking I'll start small and give the $85 Monoprice 9723 a shot.
