There is no better "fan" than a Vornado circulator - it really will pull the air into the room leading to less use of heat and A/C
That being said there are models to avoid like any company in the USA:
1. Vornado's high end luxury line with chrome/brass/etc accents
2. Vorando's tower fan
3. Any personal or desk Vornado fan
Every single other model, again, you won't find a better fan.
People complain about the motor going out on Vornados. I have two in locations that need air pushed and run them literally around the clock unless I am out of my house. Both have been running amazing for last 3.5 years.
Vornado has 5 and 10 year warranties as well - if it breaks, call/chat with them and be polite. They will ask you to cut the cord with scissors and take a pic of the cut cord with your serial # on your unit and in less than a week you will have a brand new fan sent out to you. I cant believe more people havent abused this probably dont know about it but it's one of the best warranty's in the game for any product.
TLDR: Buy a Vornado, just not this one or the tower one

Looking at the window units if anybody has experience. I have a big brick house in the Chicago area. and if there's no wind outside there can be a 10 degree differential even having ceiling fans in most rooms.
1. Could a pair of these units move enough air to set up a slight cross flow between rooms? (they're not optimal but there is a path when the breeze is nice outside).
2. The digital one looks nicer and more options than the more basic model, however I'd like to use smart plugs if I could. The basic model looks like a hard switch and the digital is unclear, but I infer that it wouldn't work with a smart plug. Any experiences?

However, this particular window fan does come with a remote to switch it on remotely. Just order it, & return if it does not work with your smart setup.

I ordered 2 of the Vornado pivot 3 at the same time by putting 2 in the amount of items.
I got notice earlier today that one was shipped via FedEx and just a few minutes ago I got another notice that the second one was shipped via UPS ground.
Both to be delivered on Wednesday.
EDIT :: Well now I was notified that one of them will be delivered tomorrow.
EDIT 2 :: Now both of them are going to be delivered on Tuesday.
