Grabbed a 3U. This has a mechanical switch, making it usable with a smart plug FYI

Vornado is currently in the process of clearing older models as they transition 40-50% of their line up to Alexa compatable or energy efficient models.

There is no better "fan" than a Vornado circulator - it really will pull the air into the room leading to less use of heat and A/C

That being said there are models to avoid like any company in the USA:
1. Vornado's high end luxury line with chrome/brass/etc accents
2. Vorando's tower fan
3. Any personal or desk Vornado fan

Every single other model, again, you won't find a better fan.

People complain about the motor going out on Vornados. I have two in locations that need air pushed and run them literally around the clock unless I am out of my house. Both have been running amazing for last 3.5 years.

Vornado has 5 and 10 year warranties as well - if it breaks, call/chat with them and be polite. They will ask you to cut the cord with scissors and take a pic of the cut cord with your serial # on your unit and in less than a week you will have a brand new fan sent out to you. I cant believe more people havent abused this probably dont know about it but it's one of the best warranty's in the game for any product.

TLDR: Buy a Vornado, just not this one or the tower one

Anyone use that pivoting vornado before and has a comparison against the popular woozoo from Costco?

Out of curiosity how much was the retro metal Vornado?
About $70. Don't remember the exact clearance price.

It's this model:

Okay thank you.
Yes I bought the Vornado Vfan Alchemy from Costco in May for $59.99 on a 5 day sale.

It's a terrific air circulater. And it looks very nice in my living room.

It gives great wind and it is super quiet.

Costco has this vornado [costco.com] on sale for $40. Seems bigger, more powerful, and quieter, but it's twice the price.

Hard to decide. Not sure if I'll return this target vornado and wait for that one to go on clearance as well. Been seeing lots of Costco summer stuff go on clearance for ~50% off
My brother just sent me a picture of the Vornado Pivot 6 at his local Costco in Illinois and it is $34.99 there.

I was asking him to grab a couple of WooZoos if they had any there.
People in some Costco Fakebook groups are reporting all over that their Costco stores are selling them for between $12 and $20.

Many thanks. The vornado pivot fan works great. You can't beat $20 for this design, but I don't like the design.

Didn't see mention of it, so...

The Honeywell Turbo Force 2 in 1 is out of stock to ship, and not in stock near zip 92843.

I wanted a fan for sleeping and I can't stand noise. I tried Vornado 133DC and Woozoo "Macaroon" large and medium. I had a similar/the same noise defect with both brands.

My first Vornado had an intermittent clicking-ish sound. I cut the wire for the picture then reattached it and after some time it developed the common defect to all of them. I cannot say for certain as I am not very mechanically inclined but to my ears it sounds like the blade head is rattling against the spoke and sounds almost exactly like if a hair or something was stuck in the blades. Tilting the fan to face the ceiling stops it.

First warranty replacement was fine for 1-2 weeks then developed the common defect. I tried reattaching it but it didn't work so I guess I damaged the wire too much. Second warranty replacement at this point I don't even remember and they had me send it back instead of destroying it because I complained about the wastefulness. Third warranty was to be pre-inspected but FedEx delivered to the wrong house and that person decided to steal it. Fourth warranty also pre-inspected was the worst fan that I received which didn't even turn on correctly let alone run quietly. They gave me a refund for my original purchase after that.

I immediately returned the large Woozoo "Macaroon" from Amazon with a motor defect and obvious signs of previous usage. I exchanged for medium because it went on sale while before only the large had only been on sale, and really I only need a small which was not in stock. I chose their "Macaroon" because it had the lowest listed db rating. After an hour it started what sounds to me like the exact same noise as the Vornado. I tried contacting Iris USA and I asked them to fix it. I didn't expect them to but I wanted to see what their response would be and I was told they aren't warrantying the units because they are discontinued.

The Macaroon would be quite good if it didn't make this noise so I imagine the Costco Woozoo is quite a nice fan and a much better deal than their Amazon selection. I have mine on low, facing the ceiling (so it doesn't make the noise), near the foot of my bed and it does blow enough air to make me feel more comfortable. It is technically "whisper quiet" on low which is just barely quiet enough for me to sleep through. Low pushes about as much air as ~%40 on the DC knob and is quieter than that setting. The DC is very quiet on the lower knob but doesn't push a lot of air at that speed. I think a medium DC might be nice but I'm not giving Vornado more money after the clown fiasco with the 133, especially $100. If your primary concern is air flow though Vornado are more powerful and if they had the defect present in these quieter fans you would not be able to hear it at high speeds or on the non-DC version. The only way I know to get sales on Vornado is Kohls.

HERE!

Go to the search bar, type Vornado, deals pop up consantly.

If you dont wanna wait buy the Costco one and if it has issues (doesnt keep it's position - mine did that) - you call Vornado and they send you an equivalent non-Costco model aka you get a larger fan for replacement.

Didnt even bother with Costco returns as I threw the box out

Remember the difference between the large and the medium is relatively small so if you have the space always go for the large room circulator vs the medium/small.

Best of luck

Has anyone used that pivoting vornado before and can compare it to the popular Woozoo from Costco?
I've been using the little Vornado pivot 3u for a few days since I got it.

The WooZoo is better and more quiet.
It pushes the air a little bit better.

I do like the Vornado Pivot 3U but I would not say that it is equal to the WooZoo.
But the WooZoo was more expensive.

There are a few things that I am not crazy about on the WooZoo, the loud beeping when you turn it on and change the speed and the bright on board lights.
They are not that bad but it would be nice if you could adjust the brightness and turn off the sound.
Things I love about the WooZoo, the remote is great, and that the controls are on the front of the WooZoo.
It's very cute.
I don't personally use the oscillation but it is a nice feature.
It pushes air very well.
It's quieter than the Vornado Pivot 3U on highest speed.
It has 5 speeds instead of the 3 speeds on the Vornado Pivot 3U.

The main thing that I really find annoying on the Vornado Pivot 3U is that the control switch is on the back of the fan.
I don't mind that it is a little louder in use on the higher speed.
It is as quiet on the lowest speed as the WooZoo.
I prefer the lowest speed for sleeping.
I don't need it to be blasting air at me.

For the $20 that the Vornado Pivot 3U cost I think that it is a good value.

It's cute.
But so is the WooZoo.

I use a lanyard on the remote to the WooZoo to help keep it from getting lost and to keep it within reach. I have it looped on my bed post.

If you are fortunate to be able to find a WooZoo at Costco in the clearance prices of between $12 and $20 I'd recommend that you grab a few.
I know that if I had that opportunity I would definitely be adding a few more to my collection.

Damn I want the window fans bad. OOS. Perfect for the evening when it's cooler outside than inside and wasting power on AC when I just need moving air from outside
