Vornado is currently in the process of clearing older models as they transition 40-50% of their line up to Alexa compatable or energy efficient models.
There is no better "fan" than a Vornado circulator - it really will pull the air into the room leading to less use of heat and A/C
That being said there are models to avoid like any company in the USA:
1. Vornado's high end luxury line with chrome/brass/etc accents
2. Vorando's tower fan
3. Any personal or desk Vornado fan
Every single other model, again, you won't find a better fan.
People complain about the motor going out on Vornados. I have two in locations that need air pushed and run them literally around the clock unless I am out of my house. Both have been running amazing for last 3.5 years.
Vornado has 5 and 10 year warranties as well - if it breaks, call/chat with them and be polite. They will ask you to cut the cord with scissors and take a pic of the cut cord with your serial # on your unit and in less than a week you will have a brand new fan sent out to you. I cant believe more people havent abused this probably dont know about it but it's one of the best warranty's in the game for any product.
TLDR: Buy a Vornado, just not this one or the tower one
Tempting. I love Vornado but I make sure to purchase the Energy Saver series. I think I'll stick with that. They now have a $49.99 small model that is perfect for bedrooms. I buy them one at a time from Best Buy because the trend remains the same: I purchase from Best Buy and they give me a $5 loyalty coupon. I use the loyalty coupon in combination with the 10% off Chase Offer.
I was considering the Vornado 3U for a use case in a small bedroom, but it seems as if the design really is purely as a personal desk fan...?

I bought the Vornado a few weeks ago and returned it. It sucks pretty bad. Buy something else.

Thanks Bought the window unit, love these for fall use. Just a semi pro tip, for indoor fans blowing on you, nothing will beat a box fan with a 20x20 filer taped tot he back of it. Atleast with this its a cheap and quick alternative to expensive air cleaners, and you have the benefit of clean air blowing on you.
All of these have middling to crappy reviews that report oscillation or outright failures, or that they're just too noisy. Yes, plastic gears suck. So does cheaply-made stuff from China. Meanwhile, my 25-year-old made-in-Canada Sears fans with metal gears ‒ and built like a brick outhouse ‒ keep going strong just like when they were new.

Unless you use weak filters, that can quickly wear out the motor in typical box fans.
The exception is this Lasko unit with an upgraded motor designed for such use, along with its 20x20 filter holder. I use MERV 13 filters with it: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lasko.../315516663
Bought two small Vornado fans from Home Depot once, returned them both because it simply doesn't move enough air. Just buy a bigger fan and let it run slow.
Yep, bg one on slow is most efficient, variable dial , wide flow most comfortable.
will be picking them tomorrow. Just want to see if they are good.
If someone picked the fan on OP - Pivot 3U and tested them, can you share your thoughts? I couldnt get a meaningful review from this thread except hates or likes on different fan experience. Not much on youtube or reviews online.
Trying to see if I can avoid the pickup drive.
looks like the PIVOT 3U is pretty much an altered version of the PIVOT3 specifically manufactured for Target, with slightly higher RPMs and a different base style. I've been using Vornado's Zippi fans for years, great little work horses, (haven't used this fan, so a comparison based just looking at the data points), this fan appears to be slightly more powerful, but also slightly louder, so probably wouldn't recommend it as a "next to the keyboard" desk fan, but put it about 5ft away from you and it should be fine, though it is advertised as an "air circulator" (can move air 'up to 45 feet'), so best case would be to put it in the corner of a small room and create a gentle breeze throughout
Was able to find a couple with an extra $5 off coupon added. Definitely looking for something a little smaller for my work-from-home spot and know my parents love Vornados as much as I do. My primary one is about 16 years old now.
