At this price, I'd argue this is the best bang for your buck 27" IPS gaming monitor you can find. Ranked 6th best gaming monitor on rtings.com amongst 27" IPS monitors (using current review standards). Top 5 are all $400+, with the exception of the Acer Nitro XV272U KVbmiiprzx, which is available for $330 on Amazon right now (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XV272...PDKIKX0DER) (normally $435).

To be honest, the 350 nits feels plenty bright to me and the hdr10 makes games pop. I don't have higher end displays to compare too, but I think this is a good buy but not a must buy at this price. Other monitors have been cheaper recently so I'd be patient unless you prefer Samsung over others. Rtings.com thinks this monitor is a pretty good one.

350 nits with bad hdr. Been used to a 400nit monitor with no hdr, anyone know if the change would be drastic?

I have the Dell S2721DGF that I got for under $300 a few months ago on sale. I love it

How does this Samsung compare?

I do like my Dell works with free sync pro and gsync I currently have a Radeon 6600 but may not in the future

Rtings has a comparison. The discussions section has some reports of excessive eye fatigue on the Dell.

I bought the monitor during labor day sale for $279. Saw this post and was able to get a price adjustment to get $30 dollar back! Kudos to Bestbuy Big Grin. Enjoying this new monitor, it's a great upgrade from my previous 1080p with 144hz.

Anyone know how this compares to the mono price dark matter monitor with similar specs? I got it on sale last week but unsure if I should pick this one up instead.

400 nits is still low tho. I have LG HDR with 400 nits. HDR games are still meh.

How good of a deal is this? Is there a much better monitor Under $500 or is this in the good bang for buck category?

I'm in the market with a $500 top end budget but I've been out of the market for so long i just dont know whats good.

I watched a few youtube videos but its hard to get unbiased opinions when people are trying to make a living making review video's lol.

No. I have an HP X32 and I bought this one to do a comparison. The X32 has better color and performance (both were calibrated). I returned the Samsung one.

The monitor seems pretty bright to me too. There 3 preset setting dedicated buttons you can switch, which is really nice for the brighter setting during the day and darker setting for the night.
If you have two sources connected, keep in mind this monitor doesnt switch sources automatically, which is a pain. There's no dedicated button to switch sources either.

I've ordered a few monitors and maybe I'm just incredibly unlucky, but this is the first model that did not come with a dead pixel. YMMV obviously but this monitor is great. I've played around with TN, VA, and IPS panels and I prefer IPS by far. The screen to me is plenty bright.
