I called wellbot to find out if they are the seller. The seller is joyridebikes they are shipped from them.
Watts does not equal MPH, and can not be used for an accurate comparison. There are several different types of hub motors, and the motors can be assembled with different windings.
The controller and battery determine the wattage, not the motor. So calling it a "500 watt motor" is kind of a misnomer. By advertising it as a 500 watt motor, the seller could be saying the motor itself can handle 500W without overheating and burning out. However, most of the time these numbers are made up for marketing purposes. The same motor could be paired with a 10 amp controller and see a max of around 400 Watts or it could have a 15 amp controller and draw around 600 Watts. In my case, I use a 52V battery and 45 amp controller on a motor that was sold as a "1500 watt motor," and it runs 2500 Watts without any issues or need for heatsink/statorade.

I know. I went to that site earlier. It listed the major dealer in Minneapolis. I called them and they said they no longer carry Hurley or do warranty work on them. There was no other option in Minneapolis.
Then I put in my Phoenix zip code and no dealers are listed.
I suspect there aren't any dealers, or if there are, they would be difficult to find. Certainly none within 100 miles of the two major metropolitan areas I live in.
Got my Amped ST yesterday. Took an hour or so to get it together and put my rear bike rack on it. I took it on my 4.5 mile commute this morning and it worked great. I did purchase the 3 year warranty for $80 that promises a "fix it in 5 days or replace it" policy.
Regarding the CPS warranty, that does look interesting. It says it provides free shipping, so could be worth it. I don't know much about the warranty company itself, or if there will be anyplace to ship it to?

Wellbots is sending him a new battery, controller, and display. And letting him keep the old.
They were overwhelmed at first, but at least in this case came around fine.
FYI, I get over 20 miles on mine if I just use the throttle, so we knew and could prove something was wrong with his.
