This is a good price for a "meh" but fully serviceable bike - not mountain bike. Surely capable to ride around in city trails, commute etc while focusing at the lowest possible price, just don't try to follow your seasoned MTB friends on single track with this...think of it as "gravel" bike at best.

This is also not a $400 MSRP bike by any stretch of imagination, this is a $120-150 bike, or at least it was pre-pandemic.

Good value for riding around the neighborhood or gifting to a wife or a kid that won't try crazy shit on it.

I've seen this bike. There's a few of them in the endcap bike display. It seemed an odd looking bike at first, that's why I stopped and looked at it. Then I started comparing it with the 26" Schwinn next to it and figured out this 27.5" bike is a 26" bike with a extended seat. Looks kind of dorky IMO, like a low rider bike with long seat pipe.. You might want to look at it first before purchase. The $90-something Roadmaster looked better to me. Just my 2 cents.

The small size arrived yesterday and I put it together today for my son. I didn't know till after the fact that there was a quick release for the front brakes. I ended up taking one side off the with allen wrench to get the tire on LOL

Aside from that, the brakes were super tight and rubbed while riding. I brought it to our small local bike shop. The owner fixed the brakes real quick and did a once over to make sure it was good to go. $17 later and it's good to go. Son was riding around. It's still a little big for him, but he can grow into it now.

I picked up one of the ST100s in small for my kid to grow into.

I'm pretty impressed for $100! The frame seems quality even if most of the components are very budget. Those can be upgraded over time as they get worn out.

I think this is probably the 2nd best deal on a MTB we've seen since the pandemic - beaten only by the $125/138 Framed Rendal deal from a couple of months ago.

Congrats on those who git this in their size. Looks like only S left in my area as well.

Thanks OP!

Somebody in here posted the Schwinn fatty bike seat from Walmart so I got it, but I have no idea how to get off the factory one. The seat is welded to the bar from what I can tell. Anyone got tips?

Yup. Won't work as its welded. Better get some padded covers or you gotta change the whole post.

I watched some videos and expected mine to be welded. But when I got it it actually wasn't welded. And I was able to put my replacement seat on. Maybe the size difference matters? I got an xl

I'm 6' and got the XL - and it fit pretty well. I'm pretty happy with the purchase - for $100 it is well worth it. I'd buy another one - but unfortunately it looks like the XL's are sold out.

I do want to buy a kickstand - so I know some people earlier in the thread said they were going to get one - did you find one that worked well? Also, I agree about the seat - has anybody found one they really liked?

I did have a question - on one of the forks, there are machined screw holes - does anybody know what these are for?

Oh. My bad. I saw the specs online and assumed it was welded. I just checked mine, it can indeed be removed. Mine is L size.

Seat is clamped by its rails to the seat post by a single bolt.

Steps:
Loosen the quick release seat post clamp on the frame
Pull out the entire post with seat attached.

Lay it upside down, look under the seat to see the 6mm hex bolt.
Loosen and move the reflector out of the way, if necessary to access the 6mm bolt.

Loosen the 6mm bolt that holds the clamp that then clamps the seat rails.

Once the bolt is loose, you should be able to shimmy the seat rails out from the clamp and remove the entire seat from the post.

Slide in your new seat and and adjust the position of the seat to your liking.
Tighten the 6mm clamp bolt.
Adjust the reflector and reinstall your seat post with the new seat.
Tighten the quick release and ride.

Hope that helps

Excellent. So the next time a bike snob comes here and says a LBS won't work on a Walmart bike, we'll highlight your post 👌🏼

The screw holes are for installing disc brakes.

Did any of you take this bike on the trails? I really want to try it on some light trails to see the performance.
