First, I know it's a good price and always receives a ton of upvotes. That said, I still don't get why so many people love this mouse. It's unergonomic and has the worst charging port ever. I know it only takes a 2 minute charge for 9 hours of use but it's still a ridiculous design - and they've had it like this for 7 years smh

I agree with you. I'm a Windows guy, BUT I respect the consistent general quality of Apple products. I cannot deny that, BUT….what is so special about this mouse that it is normally $79? Or even $59? I can get the same thing for $10 on Amazon, or $30 for decent quality and charge times.
Again, no knock on The QUALITY of this mouse….but the price?

They did it for aesthetics reasons. They didn't want peopel taking photos with the cord plugged in. Apply highly values the clean look and didn't want folks messing it up.

charging port location actually makes sense. you don't want to fray your lightning cable by putting it on the front of the mouse. that's a dumb idea.
Jobs didn't want people to charge and use it at the same time like some pleb. People might think the user had a wired mouse.
Wow, after all these years, an answer that makes sense haha. "Why are the latest iPhone Pros still limited to USB 2.0 transfer speeds through their lightning port, despite 48 megapixel photos taking up to 75 MB each?" Because we now have 2 Gbps internet!
