In my experience, the wide size for this specific shoe is extremely narrow still. I wanted these shoes to fit so badly, but they don't. Be prepared to return if you actually have wide feet.

I really love mine that I wear it even when Im not hiking. So comfortable. Still solid after several National parks and travel abroad. Too solid that I wont be buying anytime soon. I bought mine at 125, and will buy again at that price.

These boots are my go-to for snow and any cooler to cold weather hiking. These sizes are all wide however, if that's what you need, this is a great deal!

Are these hardcore hiking boots? I'm a city dweller and only do light trails and such. Would this be overkill?

Wide is not wide, for folks that do regular width, it is fine to go with wide. I bought couple of sizes last week. The toe area is just weak, especially on steep gradients, the front material does not cover the toes properly, so toes hurt when bending. Was hoping these will be good shoes. Have to go back to Merrell

They're good mid level boots. Obviously not the sort you'd go crazy in like climbing K2 or Everest, but they'll handle what you want well.

I have the regular size and they are way too narrow. Wish they had wide when I bought them

Thanks! Needed some new hiking boots! Bought some trash off brand that gave me the worst blisters on my heels ever. Won't make that mistake again.

Do you want boots for some reason? If you are doing light trails I'd imagine you could get by with a hiking shoe or a trail running shoe.

I use my boots for when it's wet/muddy/snowy, or if I'm doing a particular rocky trail and I'm worried I might bang my ankle against a rock. Otherwise I use shoes.

Its been this price for more than a couple weeks now. I know because I bought these at this price at around the beginning of the month for our trip to Iceland. True to size. The wide was so much more comfortable than the regular. Best shoes I have ever worn. Highly recommend.

And there's REI's ridiculous 1 year return policy to feel good about too.

Keep in mind that this shoe has been discontinued in favor of Ultra 4 but the 3s are better rated than the 4s. My spouse got the Ultra 4 and has been happy as well.
