No….definitely not the case. These are first quality, CNC milled craftsmanship. Think what you want…. but I absolutely love them.
Yes, you're the asshole.

Looks like it's probably about the same as their i1R 2 Pro light, but this one is being billed as a special "commemorative" edition with a nod to Morse code and is embossed with "Olight Obuy" in Morse code. Obuy.com seems to be sponsoring it for their grand opening or something.

"INTERESTING INSCRIPTION … The brand new iMorse carries a special Morse code message that can be decoded by using the key card."

"SPONSORED BY Obuy.com … iMorse's special new design honors the grand opening of Obuy USA on September 16th and it is sponsored by Obuy USA to thank -fans for their support."

Lot of effort to commemorate a new name and version if it's actually an i1R 2 Pro. I assumed the morse code was like SOS blinking, so am disappointed it's just cosmetic. For $5, it's still very useful.

I got the rechargeable model last year.

I've used it a few times but I haven't needed to charge it yet.

Amazed at how long the battery lasts on this thing.

My wife keeps one in her purse, and over a year later, hasn't recharged it. She only uses it for a few minutes at a time here and there, so with intermittent use like this it seems to go on forever Smilie. She likes how light it is, doesn't add any weight to the massive amount of stuff she carries in her purse. The only issue is that it's so small, it gets lost in the bottom and hard to find quickly among all the other "stuff" in there.

I have the previous micro USB one. It's freaking impressive. I actually forgot that I had it in my pocket and went swimming with it for 20 minutes before I realized it was there. I took it out and it still works. Not so lucky with my other crap on the keychain.

I checked the site and there's one already in my cart, and I apparently can get it tomorrow (Sunday) at 8pm. But it's the grey rechargeable one, I'd rather have the AAA light since I have a butt ton of batteries and those tiny rechargeables are a pain.
$5 plus tax, probably won't even bother getting it.

i3e EOS unfortunately doesn't work with 10400 cells, but it is already quite bright for an aaa light.

Hmm … I hadn't thought about alternative batteries for this, but Googled a bit and ran across this vid talking about using it with a 3.7 volt 10440 battery …

I figured it out, I confused the thrunite ti2 with the eos3.

Will dig out my eos and try again, have a stack of these including uv from past deals.

and yes have those exact batteries in the video.

Cool … seems like a pretty neat way to supercharge a tiny little light. I'll have to keep an eye out for a deal on those batteries. (Insert a few Tim Allen grunts here, lol)

I bought these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2...53023.html 4 for $8.89
Shipped pretty quick for aliexpress, and all measured within a few % of the rating.

Olight does not even recommend 1.6V AAA Lithium in the instructions... only Alkaline and also NiMH rechargeables. You may ruin the flashlight if you overpower it. At least contact Olight for a current recommendation.

Because unprotected li-ion cells aren't something they'd recommend based on liability reasons, doesn't mean it doesn't make sense if you know what you are doing. You have to guard against over discharge and know when to toss the cell(gets hot while charging).

Either the boost circuit can handle it or not, and if it burns out eventually, its $5, and will be worthless in a few years regardless.

Yeah, over-powering things like that will never fall under recommended usage by manufacturers. Personally, I'm comfortable with the potential risks of overheating, etc and understand that it could possibly ruin the light. Definitely not something to try if you want the thing to last long enough to pass on to your grandchildren or something.
