I need a new background noise fan. Unlike many I don't want it to be extremely quiet. Can anyone comment on that? The one I have now is too quiet.

I have this and the vornado 3u from the other day. Vornado is louder on higher but the air flow is concentrated. This is a good fan for background noise

These are garbage. There have been different tiers of Turboforce fans. Check the wattage of the fan if you want to know how much air it will move.

They downgraded the fan motor, but kept the name and design. If you own a Turboforce fan that's at least 5-7 years old, it will most likely use a higher wattage motor than this.

Pay attention to the model: HT-900, 904, 908

The fan that uses the .68 amp motor will be your best bet. The newer ones use the .28 amp motor, which is where the lackluster specs come from.

Between the .28 amp = 35w on high and .68 amp = 60w on high. Guess which one moves more air?

Correction: the old fan I have, the motor is rated at .8a. =96w. It's like a jet engine compared to this one.

Keep your expectations low on performance and longevity.

This is great price, I've bought generic amazon ones for around $20, although it's rechargeable/ portable and with a clip on base

Its all gone now apparently. I have two of these at different locations. Left on one over a weekend period and it lasted the entire time on with no issue... These things may just be unbreakable to an extent.

not this one, but i have a white westinghouse mini fan that i bought from Kmart probably sometime in 2004 or 2005 that still works. it came in handy during the hot days in the IE(southern california) and was put to good use during the recent heat wave we had here.

I knew someone that had one of these I helped them move once. It had been running nearly non stop for what looked like years lol. It was so clogged with dust and lint and such it was barely turning, but it WAS working. He was going to trash it. I'm a scientist and like tinkering so I took it. I spent (admittedly more of my time than it was worth) tearing it down, cleaning the blades and intake and exhaust inlets, and even cleaned around and lubricated the rotor and rotor bearings. I reassembled it and it runs nearly perfectly.

I also believe they are well built after what I witnessed it surviving lol.

I have one. The price is right, that said I was very underwhelmed with air movement. Just a fyi: It's a very small fan.
Agreed. Looks like a Vornado but the air movement is underwhelming. However great price.

I ordered 2 and will report back. I've got an older model which the motor is rated at .8a =96w.

It's like a jet engine compared to this thing.

Beware of this and similar fans :

1. The fan tilt is manual and if you keep it the way you see it in the picture, you cannot tilt it "downward" and you can tilt it only 90 degrees upward. For most uses folks have a table that is slightly taller than bed and so it cannot be kept on the table and tilted down to get the breeze. Attaching it to a wall is not great as it is nor light and also if the breeze will not be good if the fan's back is against a flat wall.

2. The wind is not bad at highest setting but the fan makes LOT of noise.

3. After a month or so in normal rooms, it accumulates a LOT of dust but cleaning is VERY DIFFICULT - believe it or not, they have 6 screws to remove to front pane of which 2 are special torq screws! Also you can remove the front panel only but not the blades - and a lot of dust accumulates behind the blade and between the blade and the motor behing the blade and that space gets quite dirty and difficult to clean.

Even paying double for simple fans that can be cleaned and tilted to your needs is well worth it.
