The preorder deal I got was $449+tax - $315(A71 5G) + Pixel Buds A ($99 value). If I flip the earbuds for $50 I'd have paid ~120 for the new phone after trading a 2yr old free phone. I thought that was great but this one's even better.
The spec seems so-so. A71 5g also got better camera, AC Jack and SD slots.

6a slightly smaller, faster/snappier, better build quality, sound, and camera, fingerprint sensor works better. Newer Android/Google features like always on display, live translations, no soft home/back keys and must use swipe actions for everything. Gets warm and drains battery fast when in use but pretty slowly when idle.
A71 has better battery life (even when diminished after 2 years), Samsung features like edge apps and selfie gesture recognition.
Overall not much difference between them except the 6a is just "newer".
