Apple just released a new SE for 279. This is a gen 1. You are much better off getting a discounted series 5,6, 7 or a new gen 2 SE.

waiting for the Series 7 45mm to drop closer to $275 for GPS. Bought a Series 8 but cannot practically distinguish the tangible benefits over the 7.

7 was 299 at Walmart 45mm a couple days ago. Pretty good deal.

The Gen 1 and Gen 2 are almost the same exact thing. Then Gen 2 is a little newer processor and has the crash detection but that is about it the rest of the specs are all exactly the same on apple's page. With the Gen 1 coming out only a year ago I don't see this as a bad option as I'm sure Watch OS support will support Gen 1 for quite some time. And right now at staples you can get the Gen 1 SE 40mm for only $129. I went that route as they varied in specs just a little and I wasn't going to use all the extras the 7 had to offer. I just wanted to make sure it was going to continue to get Watch OS updates which I believe it will.

It's annoying when you think you've gotten the best deal only to go to page 40 after purchasing to realize that this is the old model and you could have gotten the new model if you did so and so. Thar information should be on the first page!
