Actual runners know not to touch this brand at all. From the reviews I read, only the cloudmonster is acceptable as a running shoe. I would say that they look dope and I would wear them as casual shoes, if I wasn't going to be on my feet for too long.

People who claim that this shoe is soft and comfy are objectively wrong, and probably haven't ever tried a shoe with soft cushioning. Here is a google spreadsheet [google.com] of RunRepeat's midsole softness measurements. Lower is softer. As you can see, the softest On shoe is below the median softness, and On literally has the most firm measured running shoe on record. I know this particular style isn't exactly on the spreadsheet, but when everyone says the cloudmonster is On's softest midsole to date, that's not promising.

Additionally, the runningshoegeeks subreddit pretty much universally pans the On brand for running. Just go there and search the term "cloud". Some indifference around the cloudmonster and universally terrible reviews for every other on shoe

If you're on your feet all day, you can just fall for the medical community's hype around Hokas. Personally, I like brands that don't rely 100% on marketing and actually put out a good product. Brands like Saucony, New Balance, and Asics have some of the best tech in 2022, but they're certainly not your tech bro shoes of choice.

Recommendations: Check out Saucony Triumph 19/20, New Balance Fresh Foam More v3/v4, Asics Novablast 2/3 instead.

I need to dump on these sneakers. OnClouds LOOK amazing but I have not found their quality to be very good. Also, the design of the soles is EXCELLENT at picking up gravel. If you walk or run over any kind of gravel, the soles pinch, grab, and retain gravel in a really annoying design flaw.

Found these pretty comfortable for casual wear, but have had 4 pairs and all—even those only worn for travel—started falling apart within 3 months — my first pair had a welded seam start to fail within the first week. Their warranty department is solid, though, if you want to go through the trouble. But at this price I'll stick with ultraboosts—ime much more reliable.

Still lots of hype behind this brand at the moment so I'll prob get some hate for this. Ymmv.

And that is the "paid" part. Also, Roger is in retirement. Probably a message there. If Bobby Riggs was alive, he would also be an ambassador.
He developed his shoe line AND invested 50+ million, but yeah, you might be looking past that.

True, but behind a bunch of Nike, Adidas, and Brooks shoes. However wearing Nike, Adidas and Brooks is not a status thing for some people.

How does the size goes with this brand? Should we up or down?
The site gives each shoe a fit recommendation. Most seemingly say true to size.

Because there are a lot of lemmings out there prepared to wear "status products" to impress their friends. Look, I have no problem with your love of the brand. Some people need to have that Polo logo on their shirts. But to quote kircheisen above, the shoes don't appear to hold up:

There are a lot of needless haters also. One testimonial is just an example of confirmation bias, instead of looking holistically at the product, or its critics. I'm giving personal experience whereas you're not. What does that say about you?

Point is, it still made the list, hype or not.

That's a very specific statement saying that none of the brands you've mentioned are used as a "status thing" for certain individuals.

I am agreeing with what you're saying here, though I wouldn't generalize. A subset of undefined or categorized individuals will gravitate towards trendy apparel, regardless of function. I do however feel that for a quality product it's worth paying the hefty price tag. I would say unless you've used the product, it's hard to form a definitive opinion either way.

a few colleagues wear this brand and love them, just couldnt spring close to $200. I've been wanting to buy a pair for over a year. Since they're marked down, bought 2 different pairs, the cloudstratus all blacks, and the hi edge defy's. Can't wait to try them.
