Actual runners know not to touch this brand at all. From the reviews I read, only the cloudmonster is acceptable as a running shoe. I would say that they look dope and I would wear them as casual shoes, if I wasn't going to be on my feet for too long.

People who claim that this shoe is soft and comfy are objectively wrong, and probably haven't ever tried a shoe with soft cushioning. Here is a google spreadsheet [google.com] of RunRepeat's midsole softness measurements. Lower is softer. As you can see, the softest On shoe is below the median softness, and On literally has the most firm measured running shoe on record. I know this particular style isn't exactly on the spreadsheet, but when everyone says the cloudmonster is On's softest midsole to date, that's not promising.

Additionally, the runningshoegeeks subreddit pretty much universally pans the On brand for running. Just go there and search the term "cloud". Some indifference around the cloudmonster and universally terrible reviews for every other on shoe

If you're on your feet all day, you can just fall for the medical community's hype around Hokas. Personally, I like brands that don't rely 100% on marketing and actually put out a good product. Brands like Saucony, New Balance, and Asics have some of the best tech in 2022, but they're certainly not your tech bro shoes of choice.

Recommendations: Check out Saucony Triumph 19/20, New Balance Fresh Foam More v3/v4, Asics Novablast 2/3 instead.

I need to dump on these sneakers. OnClouds LOOK amazing but I have not found their quality to be very good. Also, the design of the soles is EXCELLENT at picking up gravel. If you walk or run over any kind of gravel, the soles pinch, grab, and retain gravel in a really annoying design flaw.

My first experience with this brand was the On Cloud 5, to be used as a casual shoe. As someone else mentioned, the sole gathers a ton of stuff (gravel etc.) as it has a wide gap in it. The holes in the side also are mud/stuff magnets, and pretty fun to clean. Finally, the way the fabric overlapped on the back of the shoe (there's a prominent lip) was weird. They were constantly catching on my pants when I'd take steps. I've never had another shoe do that and it shows their immaturity in design. Note that it doesn't seem that all of their shoes have this specific issue. I had them less than 24 hours before returning.

Do your feet a favor and transition to a zero drop shoe with minimal cushioning.

Agreed. If they were serious about shoes they would have at lease 5E. They will never make it in the majors. LMAO

Interesting you say that because I'm an "actual runner" and the Cloudflow and CloudMonster are both in my rotation, along with Saucony Endorphin Speeds, and Kinvara 11s. As an "actual runner" I've found that no one brand is perfect, and many times a model from one year might be horrible while one from another year is great. So it's stilly to say the "brand" is universally no good, especially when you haven't even worn them before and are relying on hearsay.

However, you are correct that On shoes are generally not a soft shoe, which is exactly why I love my Cloudflows and Cloudmonsters. It's unfortunate that On uses the "cloud" moniker, because every model I've worn has a definite "road feel," rather than a "running on clouds" feel. No one who runs in ON would suggest they are soft shoes. They are responsive shoes.

How does these compare to Mizuno/Asics Nimbus/etc ?
They are nothing like the Nimbus. The Nimbus is a heavy-ish cushioned shoe. If you like the Nimbus feel you'll probably not like On. As for Mizuno, they make lots of models. The only Mizuno's I've ever worn were the Hitogamis before they were axed. But those were essentially racing flats w/ almost no cushion. I know Mizuno has a lot of built-up cushioned shoes and if that is what you are referring to then same answer as with the Nimbus. Polar opposites. On's are not cushioned shoes for the most part, at least how most people thing of that kind of shoe.

On is not very popular with actual runners as they are considered too firm and too overpriced compared to other running shoes that offer the same or much greater performance.

On is very popular as an athleisure shoe and can be found on the feet of countless soccer mom's and dad's.

They have a reputation for being well made, but unless you get them on discount or just don't care about the cost and just want the look, you can get much better shoes for less money.

May just be me but I purchased these a year a so ago and got weird knee problems after my second 6mile-ish run in them. Never had issues with my knees previously. Switched back to my old runners and knee came good after a few weeks.

They look pretty cool though..

Not sure what qualifies as an actual runner, but I run 1000 plus miles a year with Asics Kayano and Brooks Ghost in rotation. I want to try this brand but they run very expensive, so would you know which model would come close to Kayanos?

Brooks also makes great shoes. Just purchased a pair of Brooks Ghost 14's and Saucony Triumph 19's to try out. I have a pair of Saucony Kinvara 10's, and absolutely love them especially for the price, so lightweight and comfy.

Pretty sure it is the Fila of tennis shoes (in its day). Something you wear to try to impress people, but nothing real athletes would wear unless paid. If you haven't heard of the brand, don't feel bad "brah".
Heard of Roger Federer, brah?

He did not get paid - he paid to get into it.

Like I said, read - educate - then spew.

And that is the "paid" part. Also, Roger is in retirement. Probably a message there. If Bobby Riggs was alive, he would also be an ambassador.
"NOT PAID" - He paid to get into it. Then they made a shoe.

Try google - it is a great way to educate yourself, brah

Hey Commode, I searched some more. I found an article showing what the main tennis pros wear. Guess what, it is not On shoes. These On shoes are good for going to the country club or watching Alabama play a football game, but if you are really into sports (as opposed to impressing your friends with how much you overspent for your shoes), look elsewhere.

Geez man. You are the reason why public education gets such a bad name. Let me ESPLAIN it to you like you dropped out of high school.

Never said these were tennis shoes. Again, read what was written and then respond.

These are running shoes that RUNNERS wear. Some prefer it some don't - like anything else it is a choice. I love them and I am a runner. Federe used to wear ON for running and the company approached him and Federer became an investor in them and then he decided to help create a Tennis brand with them. Tennis is a very new category for them.

ON is traded on the exchanges so look at their IR site and they will tell you all you need to know about their strategies and their approach to market.

Now where is that darn Block a Moron button on this thing??
