I am not sure about that. Have you tried Harbor Freight? Years ago they had coupons to get them for free. I had them in drawer and my house stays around 40 to 50% humidity year round. In less than a month they were leaking in an unopened package and I had to throw them all away. They were not worth free.

Please stop morally shaming people who buy alkalines for legit reasons. You are not a superior human, you did not earn a badge for this comment.

Please stop buying alkaline batteries. Rechargeable versions of every common battery type are available and getting cheaper all the time. The only use for these should be putting in an emergency flashlight and leaving them somewhere for several years, where a rechargeable would self-discharge.
Ah shaddup.

i found these to always leak, but thats just my opinion. i usually stick to amazon basics batteries or energizer
rayovac is now owned by energizer so not like the old rayovac.

What are you all doing to make these batteries leak? I can't remember the last time I've seen a battery leaking. Maybe when I was a kid and found one outside. Must be putting them up in places you aren't supposed to…
If leaving them in an open package indoors at room temperature is "making them leak" then yeah, I really did something. Other than that it's leaving them in devices, but then again you're supposed to leave them in things like flashlights aren't you? Are you even distinguishing between different brands? Nobody is saying every brand leaks. If you blame the user it's like you're saying no batteries really leak and it's just something a lot of people online who don't know each other made up simultaneously or somehow focused on by blowing a minor phenomenon in the universe way out of proportion, maybe we're all in it together to be against battery manufacturers..

Sure, though not the cheapest and probably don't last as long, personally I'm going for cheap and non-leaking by researching reviews. I don't mind replacing them earlier. Recently found a (better) deal on a no name (or non-American) brand of AAA in bulk qty that has some kind of leak proof design. If that's not an issue why do they even try for something like that?

So disappointed in these. Used them in lanterns and remote controls and they didn't even last a week.

I agree. I prefer rechargeable where possible as they are less likely to leak but some devices need alksline's nominal voltage and those devices I inspect frequently for leaking.

From Consumer Reports
Quote :
To start, it helps to think of a battery as a tiny fuel tank built to house a chemical reaction. As the elements in that tank interact, generating power through use or self-discharge, the liquid electrolyte breaks down, releasing hydrogen gas. And gas—as we all know—creates pressure. "It's like water expanding," says Prashant Kumta, Ph.D., a chemical and materials engineering professor at the University of Pittsburgh. "It can rupture the seals and cause a leak."
My personal opinion: I think an additional factor is how our use of batteries changed over time. Manufacturers started producing "longer lasting" batteries, and we have been surrounding ourselves with more electric devices that are constantly used. This inherently increases the chance for leaking (heavier use + the same battery being used longer). In the old days, batteries died sooner, and we didn't use as much batteries as we do today.
