Most people take this for meeting the new credit card spending requirement to earn bonus points.

FYI, if you get Visa and MasterCard GCs, use them quickly. I had a few $100 and $200 GCs from a churn awhile back and hackers ended up using my funds for random purchases at Amazon and other online retailers. There's no way to get those funds back.

Does anyone know how I can get this in NYC? None of the stores I've gone to sell them or the manager says, sorry we don't carry them. Any luck with Amazon GCs either at Stapes?

No, they should be considered general merchandise.

Online reloads of reloadable prepaid debit cards may be considered a cash advance. It's best to call CC issuer to reduce the CA limit to $0 or to the min. they allow.

Great deal. Unfortunately, no Staples in my area. Lots of Office Depot and OfficeMax.
Quite the opposite in NY

I went to several store a few weeks ago in Manhattan and didn't see any of them. Went to one store in Queens and they do have. Today I went to one in Manhattan again and ask the cashier. She went to the cabinet behind her and grab one for me. An employee next to her told me they don't display those cards anymore because some people would go take a picture of the back of the card (with numbers), and wait for you to purchase. After you pay, they will make unauthorized charges on the card.

if you use one of the 5% credit card (Chase ink, Amex simple) you get 15000 x 5% = $750 with $750 you should able to get most ticket within US with $ left. and you will not need to restricted to fly with SW
I received a total of 130,200 SWA FF points, in addition to the free Companion Pass. Those points have a cash value of $1953.00. I also have an Ink card that gives 5% at Staples. But I'm retired from the MS scene for now. I get 2% cash back from my Navy Federal credit and Citi cards w/o any effort. And 5% back from my Amazon Amex.

For those with the chase business ink cash card you get 5% in points.
I buy some when I have to pay insurance, extra points compared to just using a 2% card normally.
I was told gift cards aren't included in the 5% anymore as of two years ago now? Haven't verified this. Do you know?

Yeah that is what I figured. Discover and Cash both capped at 1,500 a quarter. Target and Amazon only apply to their store. I believe apple pay only gets 2% when you use card in stores vs online.

Right now city is on my list to replace my current card. Sucks I am about to lose my 2.5% everywhere. I like not having to think about the card I need to use.
RIP my USAA card as well, she was great while she lasted. 😭

5% rewards for Chase Ink still works for all Staples purchases including gift cards.

Thanks for the DP. This makes sense & a great reminder to always inspect the card packaging & see if it's been tampered with.

Most people don't know that these Visa GC are great for putting them in your VUDU profile because VUDU charges sales tax based on the billing address of the credit card. With this card, you can put a phony Delaware or Oregon billing address. VUDU will think you're in sales tax free state. VUDU is just one example.

There is a second and more powerful use for these GC which I've been using for decades, because you can incur a negative balance on them and the card issuer won't be able to ask you to pay the difference because they don't know where you live.
Would like to know more about "incur a negative balance". tia

I'm with this guy. What a waste of $. I'll pinch my pennies more efficiently elsewhere.
