Most people take this for meeting the new credit card spending requirement to earn bonus points.

FYI, if you get Visa and MasterCard GCs, use them quickly. I had a few $100 and $200 GCs from a churn awhile back and hackers ended up using my funds for random purchases at Amazon and other online retailers. There's no way to get those funds back.

Be careful. This looks like the same bank as the one from the recent Meijer deal and those were an absolute nightmare to redeem. They didn't work on Amazon after the first 2. You just get an error that it is "contacting your bank" and then it is declined and they don't have any way of contacting the bank via phone or email. They come with a sticker saying they are activated, but they are not. You need to call into their very slow phone system to activate the cards because the website errors out.
I buy a few hundreds to a thousand of these MC/Visa every time they are on promotion and never once I need to call to activate, so not sure what are you smoking here.

I used these fee free sales to buy $15K worth of cards to earn a free SWA Companion Pass. I went to three different stores every day for five days and bought $1K each time (the limit at the time). My CP was good starting this past January and will be good through Dec 2023. A lot of work, but worth it.
if you use one of the 5% credit card (Chase ink, Amex simple) you get 15000 x 5% = $750 with $750 you should able to get most ticket within US with $ left. and you will not need to restricted to fly with SW

I was getting them rejected by Amazon, so I called into the number on the back of the card and the recorded message said the card was not activated. I don't know if activating them did any good because even after being activated I would get the "checking with your bank" message on Amazon and eventually it being declined.

So maybe it was an unnecessary step. Any idea why I couldn't get it working on Amazon?

Do they have a phone number to get ahold of an actual person that can look into why they are rejecting Amazon gift card loads?

This.

Word of advice though, don't just buy 10 of them so your final total is exactly $2000. Throw on something cheap, so the total is an odd number, like $2001.93.

I used to work closely with some people that dealt with new accounts for a credit card company. They would close down cards and deny the sign-up bonus to people who they caught doing this. It was super easy to catch them too. "Walgreens: $404.95" x 10. Obviously, those people were just buying Visa cards over and over again.

Not saying that I agree with that policy, but banks hate it when customers find loopholes like that, and they sometimes proactively take steps to deny you your rewards.
I have no idea why someone would thumbs down this insightful, firsthand advice. Thank you.

Same for me. Got a virtual master gift card and had unauthorized charge of full amount on card about 9 days later from uk. Rep said I should use quickly when I asked how to avoid on other cards. Im very careful with passwords and url spoofing so not sure how they did it. I'm waiting to hear back if I get funds back.

Agreed. Normally I would use Visa/MX GCs to pay for Progressive Car insurance or renters insurance as they accept CCs. But for Q4 , PayPal is available option for the Freedom and Freedom Flex.

Progressive also accepts PayPal. So I'm thinking of prepaying Auto Insurance for the next year when I'm up for renewal at the end of this year. Saving the Visa GCs for random one offs when Q4 is ending.
Hi can you pay insurance with multiple gc? I am a new driver and my insurance is usually 1200+ for half year, that means at least 6 gc to cover.

Use these to pay Property Taxes (e.g. Real Estate or vehicle) in person at your local county or city treasurer's office. This is helpful for those w/ CC's that earn 5% back at office supply stores (e.g. Ink)

Yes. You can then change the PIN to something memorable & set PIN to same number for multiple VGCs. Useful if you're paying property taxes with multiple VGCs.

Great way to meet spend for SUBs in one fell swoop in the good ol' days. Nowadays, liquidation avenues seem have been mostly closed. The Staples deals are still good for getting bonus points on office supply purchases.

The missing link here is liquidation. That's what enables churn. Probably only really beneficial route is if you need to meet a CC spend. I don't think anyone is getting significant amount of % back @ office stores in order to make manufactured spending make sense given how much money you'd have tied up in these GC.

The days of easy and cheap MS are basically over. Ahh I remember getting so much free gas by MS at my local supermarket when they had vanilla GC points promos - but beyond that I didn't abuse it - wasn't worth my time or the risk to scrape a measly 2% or whatever the CC offered, all the steps involved, and the possibility of something being farked up at any time - card not activating properly, getting locked, the redemption getting borked, bluebird (the liquidation method) getting turned off, etc etc.
